Perhaps I'm just too familiar with Ha Noi to accept all the high ratings this restaurant has received...... The grilled chicken tastes of butane and an unclean grill. The "chicken noodle soup" was bland, watery and the noodles(bun) were so overcooked they fell to pieces when lifting them with a spoon. The fried rice was so dry that we had to apply some of the lifeless soup just to swallow it. It's obvious the staff does not enjoy their jobs or even want to be there. I imagine serving such subpar cuisine to tourists has taken a toll on their soul so I'll forgive their disengaged presence and the fact that the server spilled half of a container of salt in my boot. AVOID THIS PLACE! You will do better to eat from one of the overpriced street vendors just a few steps in either direction of this location.
After owner response: I'm happy to hear the owner is suportive enough of the staff to come to their defense. However, if the owner was not my server then the owner can not know for certain that whether or not salt was spilled on me and into my boot. As far as being constructive, well perhaps I can do better in my reviews but I will not fabricate, exaggerate or deny my experiences. I would encourage the staff to also uphold their no smoking policy. It was clearly posted on the wall and still none one asked the two men next to us to put out their cigarettes. Furthermore, to say the the food was simply "not my cup of tea" is an excuse for a bad product. I am not new to the food prep standards of Vietnam, we've lived here for 3 years. I am not comparing this restaurant to the standards of another country. I am making my remarks based on my experiences in Vietnam, Ha Noi in particular. I stand by my evaluation of the food. I'm sorry that the owner thinks of me to be a bully - but nearly 500k vnd of bad food is too much of a disappointment to...
Read moreMaybe it's because I've lived here and have had experiences of eating at different places, cities, etc., where I could not fathom giving this place any more than 1 star. The food here sub par at best and the staff make little effort to clarify or answer questions about the menu. I asked the waitress her opinion on what she thought was the better of 2 choices on the menu and she served me both items. The difference between the two items was almost 350k VND.
The chicken soup with noodles was bland with no traditional Vietnamese flavor offered (usually that's chopped peppers, garlic, hot sauce, etc) and the second order (that I did NOT want), the grilled chicken was under cooked (blood everywhere), smelled like gas (butane maybe?) and the "sticky rice" was not hot. By time we attempted the second piece of chicken (thinking the first undercooked bite may have been a fluke) we were over it.
Both meals equated to almost 500k. I realize the meals in this area will be more expensive because of where it's located but this was poorly prepared, poorly prices, and not worth...
Read morePrime location with nice air-conditioned interior, but the food is a bit overpriced for the quality. To maximize value, get their bun thang (60k as of June '23). The broth was light and flavorful, while the addition of half a salted egg sets their bun thang apart from other places. Stay away from their nem ran (spring rolls), which costs nearly 15k for each nem that was loosely filled with some watery vegetables and noodles with barely any trace of protein or flavor. The staff was friendly, and service was quick. Nói chung là trời nóng có thể đến đây ăn bún thang ngồi điều hòa cho mát chứ đồ ăn ở đây trung bình khá (ít nhất là 2 món...
