This place has five star reviews so I understand my experience is not the norm. Clearly this is a good place but I just had a bad experience.
1- I thought it was clear I don’t eat pork because for a few dishes I asked if there was pork in it and told no. However from the vegetables section of the menu I didn’t bother to ask about the ingredients and ordered the stir fried eggplant for 85,000 vnd. This dish had pork in it and I was disgusted by consuming it. Not sure why minced pork is in any dish in the vegetables section. Regardless, I take blame but also think if I was the server I would have been sharper and noticed the questions and I would have pointed out “well the eggplant has pork”
2- my dish I ordered, a beef stew, should have been called a beef fat stew. From the whole bowl, I barely enjoyed 2 bites of beef. All the other bites were struggles and spitting out chewy fat chunks. I felt that these cuts of beef were the cheapest and lowest grade beef that could be found in market. Nothing good about the quality of beef here.
3- while the servers were kind and decor was appealing, my total of 756,000 vnd makes me wish I didn’t walk into this restaurant. I don’t want to insult this place and obviously they are overall a good place but I left disappointed.
4- poor ventilation in restaurant, I am picky and was in restaurant business a long time and one of my pet peeves is going to a restaurant that leaves you smelling like grease or smelling like you were in the kitchen. I hate when my shirt smells of fryer oil and grease after leaving a restaurant and that is what happened after eating here today.
5- silverware had water strains so I just wiped off with napkins
The good things: nice lighting, nice streetview outside from 5th floor. Attractive art work and decor, friendly staff, English speaking waiter made it easy to order, quiet place, photos on menu, nice...
Read moreI had ordered sautéed morning gloy vegetables and a garlic charred pork jowl. The taste of these dishes was mediocre at best. The price to taste ratio is extremely poor. You are paying for their fancy decor spread out on 6 floors and the abundance of staff. Last night early in the am, I had a projectile vomit. After it subsided, I cleaned up the mess. A few hours later, another vomit attack. These attacks came from Mammom's food. The undigested food was clearly from there. The 2 attacks wiped me out physically. The residuals that didn't get vomit ejected made it down to my lower digestive tract. Diarrhea! A lot of it! 3 diarrhea runs! I am going to do a 48 hour fast. I need to absolutely clear out my system. Maybe I am unlucky to have encountered this. But this has been a very...
I was excited to try Mammom on a Saturday night, mostly because of its impressively exceptional 5-star reviews on Google. But from my experiences as a local who frequently eats out, I can tell that those reviews are overrated. I really question the authenticity of those good reviews. For tourists who wanna explore Vietnamese cuisine and sit in a clean nice place instead of having street food, Mammom can be acceptable. For me as a local, I'd rather try out other Vietnamese restaurants.
Space + atmosphere: spacious space, impressive & charming decoration. But, the biggest problem is the low ceiling in construction that makes it super noisy here. Not too many guests but feel like every one's speaking very loudly to me. Nice space but severely uncomfortable atmosphere.
Food: Basically traditional VNmese food. I order one stir fried veggie - this is a disappointment of the night. For the fish and hot pot - they are ok, I'll rate them 4/5. The drink (coconut milkshake) is quite good, I like it.
Service: Good attitudes from the team, nice and supportive, but quite inexperienced and not too professional. The process takes long to serve the food. My hotpot encountered some heat problems and they were taken away, leaving us wait for like 15-20 mins. We were very...
