I’ve stayed at Moung thanh properties 14-15 times at various locations all over Vietnam and in Lao over the last 15 years. Some of the properties are not as well kept or the staff well trained as you would expect from what is probably the biggest hotel chain I’ve seen in SE Asia but the Moung Thanh Holiday Hoi An is one of the best in the chain. The staff is very welcoming from the moment you enter the lobby. You’re greeted with a cold beverage and a lot of smiles when you approach the reception area. Room service was excellent fast, efficient, and tasty. The breakfast was very satisfying especially for my kids and it’s very important if you are travelling as a family. We were running late to catch our boat to Cham Island so we inadvertently left our brand new iPad in our room when we checked out but 30 minutes later when we called they said they were holding it at the front desk so we could pick it up when we return from the island in a couple days! Lastly, we left our motorcycle there while we traveled by boat and they allowed us to keep it on the property till we returned. What a great group of employees there at this exceptional property clearly one of Moung Thanh’s better hotels in the chain. We are 15 months into our two years of travelling Asia as a family and we already booked another 2 days here five days from now and we booked another 5 day stay at the Moung Thanh in Nha Trang. Thanks for the excellent service and making us feel at home while we...
Read moreI understand the team tried to assist, but the waiting time was simply unacceptable. From reporting the problem at reception to finally seeing the technician, nearly an hour was wasted. By that time, we had to leave the room and miss the chance to enjoy the Jacuzzi, which was supposed to be part of the experience.
When we returned later hoping to relax, the exact same issue happened again. Having to repeatedly raise the same complaint completely ruined the stay.
Today is our 4th day, and the same issue was reported again this morning around 8 a.m. before we left for the beach. After breakfast we returned to the room, but the problem was still not fixed. The back-and-forth started all over again, and only then did trainee staff Hung kindly offer us a room change. But what’s the point when we have to check out tomorrow anyway? We already wasted 3 hours this morning and couldn’t enjoy the stay as planned.
On top of this, there were insects and even reptiles inside the room — completely unacceptable for what is meant to be an executive suite. See photos and videos attached.
Hung’s effort to reach out on Zalo and later offer a solution was appreciated, but by then the damage was done. Overall, this was such a waste of money and experience. Sadly, the other reviews about the property not being well looked after turned out to be true. For an executive suite (room 501), the stay was a major disappointment and far below...
Read moreThis resort is across from the beach and is within walking distance of some local restaurants and a spa. About 10 mins from the Old Town by either shuttle or taxi (100,000 dong). We had an executive room for 4 nights which we would have rated 5 stars except the spa would not turn on and a lack of power points brings it down to 4.5 stars. The carpets clearly had not been vacuumed for some days. We ordered room service which was prompt, however our cream brulee had no burnt sugar coating and was not enjoyable. We did not eat at the restaurant except for breakfast which we felt was a good selection and the egg station was great. Their coffee was undrinkable and when we ordered cappuchinos, they were even worse and as though adding salt to the wound, they had the hide to charge you extra for them. Staff walking around the dining room seemed to be trained to avoid eye contact with guests so you nearly had to stick your leg out to trap them. Many of the staff struggled with even basic requests in English. Dining 3 stars. The service at reception and the front door was excellent and the bar area enjoyable with a happy hour. Due to a hotel function and loud music and guests we were unable to sleep having to wear earplugs after midnight. Overall this place just did not feel like a resort or a place that you could wind...
