Wanted to book a nice hotel for new year and the pictures seemed just what we were looking for - large rooms, big bed... abit of luxury for a few nights to escape backpacker hotels... ||This is not what we got... ||Before arriving I emailed the hotel to double check we could pay on card, and to request a large room with balcony (as it stated on booking.com description). I received a reply on the morning of our stay to say the description on booking.com was wrong, it wasn't superior, the room is small and without balcony.... at this point there was nothing left in Ho Chi Minh we could afford that was nice... they didn't even offer to discount, considering the circumstances. ||"Superior room" When we checked in the room was so small and the walls were dirty, dirty wires everywhere and the bed was like a concrete slab. The air con didn't work either... so our first night wasn't a good start. The next morning we asked to move rooms and explained - we said when we return later, we will move our stuff if they could have it ready... when we returned, they had made the bed and given us an extra key to keep the air con on during the day - pretty disappointing as it made no difference to the temperature of the room! ||"Breakfast included" -upon checking in, breakfast was never mentioned to us about times or where...or even that it was included, despite it being included and pictured on booking.com! So when we came down at 10:30 and asked about breakfast the shock on all the staffs faces was like we had asked them to hand over all the money from the till... |After 5 mins of flapping they told us they only had egg and bread, we said okay fine... it came and it was pleasant. BUT the next morning the same shock happened - they tried to tell us breakfast had finished (this was at 9:15am!) after a bit of an argument they bought us fried rice with some fruit - again pleasant!||When checking out we asked if we could have the room until 2pm (as on the info card in the room it said we could extend until 2 free of charge, anything after would be charged) after 10 minutes of having to explain, google translate and speaking to various people of varying degrees of ability to speak English -we gave up and checked out at 12. ||When we did they told us we couldn't pay on card even though they told us 2 more times it was okay to pay on card - we protested a little and refused to pay cash due to the charges to withdraw in Asia (6%) or 100k.... after 20 mins, somebody turned up on a scooter with a card machine from somewhere, so we paid ON CARD and left.||I don't think the people are bad staff/people, just extremely unorganised and unwilling to help really! ||Nobody in this hotel speaks more than 2 words of English - despite their boast of "we speak your language" on their description... a...
Read moreWell lets start with check in, and let me clear my friend made the mistake of getting my girlfriend and I a two bed. So we kindly asked for a one bedroom and the lady at the front desk freaked out and yelled at us as she got a key. She rudely handed the bellboy the key and told us it would be an extra 200k a night. We decided to stay in the original room because it was next door to our friend.. on the ground level. We awaken at 6am(after a heavy night of drinking.. I mean come on.. Bui Vien st..) to her screaming at her staff and passing people on the street until about 10am. Did I forget to mention coming home a male staff member tried telling my girlfriend to get lost because he assumed she was a prostitute. When she told him she checked in and was a guest he didn't believe her until someone ran up and told him to keep his mouth shut. Now as far as the room goes.. it was nice but tiny and cramped with no window. The bathroom was so small to leave you need to step through the into the shower, open the bathroom door, and step back out into the bathroom, because the door opening reaches the sink. So yes, nice room.. but tiny, cramped and not worth it(however I saw my friends room and it was much bigger than mine). Terrible staff, except for one bell boy who moved the night stand between the two beds, pushed the beds together for us and then brought in a broom to sweep the room of excess dust. Only...
Read moreFor a fraction of what other luxury hotels cost, this hotel exceeded our expectations. The location is great, to begin with, with close proximity to restaurants, convenience stores and of course the Ben Thanh Market. The room was clean, cozy, and well designed. The service was what made us return after our short trip to Cambodia. The hotel staff and the manager (Vic) were of great help. Vic made sure our stay in the hotel was a great experience and genuinely helped us with directions and things to do while in Saigon. ||||I highly recommend this hotel to those who seek ultimate value for...
