My wife and I stayed at Saigon April Homestay for 2 nights.
We contacted the owners in advance and they provided all the detail of how best to get there (which bus, which taxi companies to use and indicative prices etc).
The hostel is down a small street between a little eatery and a specialist beer shop, very centrally located and about a 15-20min walk to anything of interest, so perfect really.
When we arrived we were greeted warmly, being welcomed with some iced water and fruit as we waited the two mins for our room to be available.
We were also given some information on the various tours we could do, including multi day tours. We chose the half day Cu Chi tour with the hostel affiliated tour operator (which was also a 5* experience), but there is plenty on offer.
The room we had was simple, but had everything required, including air-con, fridge and a cool little en-suite.
Breakfast was served whenever you get up. Generally consisted of a selection of fruit, coffee and then another Vietnamese dish like a pho. Also made sure to cater for my wife, who is a vegetarian. All super yummy and a great start to the day.
The family are extremely friendly and always willing to offer advice or just to ask how your day was. As we left, a ‘grab’ cab was organised for us to make sure we got to the airport and were not ripped off on the way.
All in all, great location, all the necessary facilities, great breakfast and a lovely friendly family running it. Nothing we...
Read moreEven though the hosts themselves weren’t there, they were extremely helpful and answered all of our questions via WhatsApp. April’s parents were looking after the place and even though they speak no English they were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. They gave us fresh fruit to last us our stay and even did our laundry for no extra cost. There’s also a water fountain which is handy! The location was excellent, close enough to walk to all attractions and only a short stroll from the lively Bui Ven walking street where all the bars are. The room was clean, tidy and a good size. We had a shared bathroom but it was always kept clean and it brought the price down a lot. I could not recommend to stay here enough, I’d love to return at some point! Two cute dogs as well which was a great...
Read moreI spent three nights here. The room with a balcony is wonderful—great for relaxation. It may not be 100% soundproof, but the noises were not bothersome to me, except for one night when a nearby dog barked for a long time late at night. The area is peaceful, and the curtains do an excellent job of blocking out the morning light. The hosts are incredibly kind and even gifted me fresh pomelo twice, which was a lovely gesture.
One downside is that if you return after 11 PM, you have to ring the doorbell for the hosts to open the gate, which made me hesitant to go out late so as not to disturb them. For better convenience, an automatic gate lock would be a great improvement.
I would gladly return and regret not choosing this place for a...
