Loved this hotel. Stayed 6 nights in one of their Nikko Club Deluxe rooms, with club lounge access. All of the Club rooms are on the top three floors, so great views and no noise from the streets below.
The room was a great size, and nicely laid out. The bed was super comfy with amazing pillows. I don’t think I’ve ever known a room to have so many free amenities. There was everything you could possibly think of from bath salts to mouthwash, not to mention l’occitane toiletries. The telly had Netflix as an option, so I was able to log in and watch my own programmes - assuming you have a subscription. The air con was nice and quiet. And who doesn’t love an electric toilet seat. Beautiful big bath and the shower was really powerful, but fine, which I loved. I didn’t hear any noise, so I assume the rooms are well soundproofed.
Breakfast was a big buffet on the 2nd floor, or you had a smaller selection in the executive lounge. I loved the fact that the main breakfast went on until 10.30, as I hate having to get up early when I’m on holiday.
The club lounge, located on the 32nd (top) floor is great. I really enjoyed the fact there was an outside bit. The afternoon tea was particularly good, with yummy cakes and lovely sandwiches/rolls.
In the evening, there was free alcohol from 5-8 and more nibbles. To be honest, the nibbles were enough to fill me up most nights, so I rarely wanteddinner as well. The alcohol was the usual selection of spirits and mixers, a few differing beers, one red, one white wine etc. Nothing fancy, but a nice way to start your evening. You can also get non alcoholic drinks throughout the day.
The pool was a nice size and water warm, so I assume heated. Plenty of (comfortable) loungers available every time I went down.
The hotel is located in a particularly busy part of HCMC, so I just used Grab to get around, as crossing any of the roads nearby is a nightmare. I wasn’t a big fan of the area, but it felt safe, and it was simple enough to get the more interesting bits.
The only thing that could have been a little better was check in. I appreciate some people just want to get to their rooms, but personally I like it when they take a little time to explain the facilities and allow me to ask questions. At least give me the option. My flight had been delayed by couple of hours, so I’d missed the ‘free’ bar in the club lounge by 10 minutes frustratingly. It would have been a nice touch if they’d maybe acknowledged this and still offered me a ‘check in’ drink. I’d even let them know I’d be arriving late, so that they could offer a late check out to the previous guest.
There’s a good selection of restaurants. The one that really caught my eye was called 5 Senses, a Japanese fusion restaurant, almost hidden at the back of a hotel lobby and not listed on their website for some reason. It is expensive, particularly for Vietnam, but the reviews are fantastic, and it looked amazing. However, it felt like something I’d want to experience with someone, and as I was travelling solo, decided to save this for another time. Ming court was particularly good value, an ‘all you can eat’ for 499k VND. Even the seafood buffet at 1.5 million looked good, as includes drinks, but as I had the lounge, I didn’t need the alcohol. You also had to do covid test to go in this one. I’m not quite sure why this particular buffet was deemed more risky than any of the others. Just seemed weird to me.
They try to accommodate late check outs for Club room customers, but the latest I could get was 2pm, so I still had to use the pool shower to freshen up pre flight home.
There’s a cash point in the lobby, but beware, I got a message saying there was a problem with my account and to contact my bank. A costly call to the U.K. only to find out it was a problem with the machine, as opposed to my card, so I found a local ATM and card worked fine.
I’d stayed at the Sofitel Saigon Plaza, another 5 star, just a few weeks prior, but this was way better, and I would...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Nikko Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This five-star property truly lives up to its reputation for relaxation and refined Japanese hospitality.
From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the warm and professional staff at the front desk. Tracy, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure my check-in process was smooth and personalized. She took the time to explain all the hotel amenities and even offered recommendations for local attractions. Her attention to detail and genuine smile made me feel instantly welcome.
The room was absolutely stunning - spacious, modern, and impeccably clean with a minimalist design that created a sense of tranquility. The marble bathroom with its separate soaking tub and walk-in shower was luxurious, and I appreciated thoughtful touches like the electronic Toto toilet system and high-quality toiletries. The 42-inch flat-screen TV, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, and comfortable workstation made it perfect for both relaxation and business needs.
One of the highlights of my stay was dining at La Brasserie. The restaurant staff there deserves special recognition for their exceptional service. They were knowledgeable about every dish, attentive without being intrusive, and always ready with thoughtful recommendations. The international buffet breakfast was simply outstanding - possibly the widest selection I've ever seen at a hotel. Their seafood dinner buffet was equally impressive, featuring unlimited lobsters, crabs, and oysters that were fresh and delicious.
I also had the opportunity to visit the 5 Senses restaurant on the ground floor, which offers modern Japanese cuisine with creative flair. The presentation of each dish was like a work of art, and the flavors were extraordinary. Again, the staff's expertise and friendly demeanor enhanced the dining experience.
The hotel's facilities are top-notch. The outdoor pool provided a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the city. The fitness center was well-equipped with modern machines, and the spa services were rejuvenating. I particularly enjoyed spending time in the Nikko Club Lounge on the 23rd floor, which offers spectacular views of the city along with complimentary refreshments throughout the day.
While the hotel is located slightly away from the main tourist areas, this actually became an advantage as it provided a peaceful sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The complimentary shuttle service to major attractions made it convenient to explore Ho Chi Minh City.
What truly sets Hotel Nikko Saigon apart is its staff. From the concierge team who helped arrange tours and transportation, to the housekeeping staff who maintained the room to perfection, to the attentive servers at all dining venues - everyone demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and genuine care for guests.
Hotel Nikko Saigon has definitely become my go-to accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City. The combination of luxurious amenities, exceptional dining options, and outstanding service makes it well worth the price. I'm already looking forward to...
