My wife and I spent almost one month at Blue Ocean Resort in December 2022 and January 2023 on a kitesurf trip to Vietnam. We were accommodated in a Sea Front Bungalow (number 104), which are clearly the hotel's best rooms. Facing the beach with a large terrace equipped with two sofas, they are spacious and well-appointed. Room decoration is modern, with a small Asian touch. The bathroom was also very spacious with a shower and an outdoor tub, a very nice feature. Each Sea Front Bungalow also has its own two sunbeds on the sand, very close to the beach. The beach has suffered a lot from coastal erosion over the past years and is certainly no longer what it used to be. Despite sand bags and other remediation measures, it is very narrow in the section in front of the hotel, turning kite launch into a difficult exercise. Hotel and bungalows are located in a well-kept garden with tall coconut trees and tropical plants offering a welcoming shade. Although we didn't use it a lot we found the pool area also very nice. Due to the location and a low occupancy rate during our stay, the hotel was very quiet. Kirsty, the hotel manager, went to great lengths to make our stay enjoyable. We never had lunch or dinner at the hotel, but very often had snacks/small bites during the day and liked the food. Breakfast was also very good, although coffee was definitely not up to the hotel's standard. Expresso or higher quality coffee should definitely be offered. We attended the New Year's Eve Party, mandatory for customers staying on the night of December 31st. Although we didn't initially expect much from it, we enjoyed it. It was entertaining and well organized with a proper balance between music, shows (spectacular traditional Vietnamese show), and food. Hotel staff's poor English level sometimes makes communication not easy, but we could always count on Kirsty to make things work. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Blue Ocean Resort, and I have no issue to strongly recommend the place for a...
Read moreWe went for lunch to Blue Ocean's Restaurant. We order a green mango salad and a seafood bbq plater. While salad was fresh and tasty, seafood wasn't what we were expecting from a seaside and fishermen village. 5 scallops which weren't "that" bad, 5 shrimps with so many water inside and tasting "frozen" (weird...) and the worst, half elastic and non taste squid. We share our impressions to the staff and after a while and no solutions (just "really fresh and really good quality products") we get to talk to the manager. She tastes squid and she tell us" it's actually normal taste of squid in this area, seafood maybe has 1 or 2 days as they don't have a "personal" fisherman or a hatcher"....at the end she tell us what she can do for us..."pay half price of the plater"... we don't want to do an scene and we just want to leave so we say ok. If it has been a "price matter" we'd order a small plater... it was a quality problem and as a result next morning we were sick (first and only time in Vietnam since 3months....eating mostly street food! ). You don't need to hire a fisherman or build a hatchery to offer good fish or seafood, just to know and watch how your products are stored and since when (1 or 2 or 5 days for seafood make a diference! ) It's important to hear and accept critiques from customers and do not take them for fools and just tourists never...
Read moreThe location, staff and resort are awesome. The value is amazing. Here are some key points:
The only negatives I had were one minor one and one a little more important. The minor one, is I really wish they had a wand or hand help shower nozzle. The more concerning is I found the beds not comfortable at all. I think for most people it is fine, but I have a bad back and had trouble sleeping as I could feel the springs in the bed and woke up each morning with a very sore back. I never asked if they had a mattress pad or anything, so perhaps that would have been an option. Saying that, I would still come back and suffer the poor sleep becuase everything else was amazing. Next time I will check if they can have a mattress pad.
Overall amazing place and we...
