If your considering a membership at the Valley Pool have a look at February lane availablity. Closed an awful lot for carnivals and waterpolo. The parking is paid street parking with clear way zones in the morning from 7am.They put all the furniture away since January this year so unless you want to use the place early in the morning then consider paying per visit. Next week the pool is closed 6 out 7 days for carnivals and polo. When enquirered why they canât put furniture back out visit it simply not possible but they use to do this previous years. so your weekly membership fee needs to be considered as it has a lot restrictions and closures that you donât know about until you sign up. The pool is lovely, clean and 2 metres deep on either end. Lane swimming pool with around 9 lanes approx. The gym is in two parts which small room upstairs with two rowers, two bikes, two tread mills but there is three but that doesnât work, and fan. The air con is limited to 21 degrees and it gets rather hot in this room. The weights room sits next to pool and is tiny and often to many people in the small room. It has weight set has rack free weight going up to approx 45 kilos. Cleaning is done by the staff which varied. Very busy in morning. They say the gym is open when carnivals are on but itâs difficult to park within 2kms of the place and getting in between all the people is very hard. Parents and kids for miles. This pools services business market, gay community and locals looking for a pool. The upside is when is open itâs really nice but with waterpolo, carnivals and lane closure for swimming lessons it gets irritating when pay membership as seems like itâs always closed or being used by paid operators. The above points need to be considered if you looking at the weekly membership or you pay per time for pool which is $5.20 Your choice of gyms in the area is very high and over 10 to choose from with 500 metres of the Valley pool. When you can use this place itâs a...
Read moreI am a regular at the Valley Pool, and have been for many years, i have noticed a disturbing trend over the last year whereby regularly the public are relegated to a few lanes and the rest of this âpublic poolâ is handed over to clubs, squads and other swim lesson companies charging for their services. This is fairly outrageous- a public pool built with public money now âselling offâ this community asset so as to make public access severely restricted and allow lanes to be profitable is not acceptable. The amount of lanes consistently utilised as non-public ensures the public use of this pool continues to decline. Coupling this with the fact that the âlane availabilityâ information on the website is not up to date, means a compete lack of confidence regarding the quality of the swim at this pool. So, so disappointing that this beautiful public pool has ceased to be...
Read moreAs mentioned by some people, this pool is slowly going from being 'public' to 'private'. The last couple of weekends I've turned up and half the pool was reserved for water polo or other private groups. This was despite checking the official lane availability schedule on the website which claimed all lanes were available. When I mentioned this to the person at reception, he gave no explanation or apology. Some weeks half the time is reserved for water polo, carnivals or squad training.
While most staff are nice and friendly, I have had the one or two...
