Saw Cub Sport here and had an absolute blast. The venue is beautiful; the building itself has a slightly rustic charm but the concert hall is well-equipped with crazy impressive lighting and a stage-wide LED screen. If you're like me and appreciate a good visual feast to go with your live music The Tivoli definitely has the facilities to deliver (unless it all belongs to or is booked by the band, in which case I take it all back and credit the Cub Sport team oops). Sound came through beautifully though, and the interior has a gorgeous design if you pay attention to it.
Also, I understand that this is pretty standard for indoor free standing venues but just keep in mind that because the ground is flat, if you're a) short b) not the type to show up super early to get in the very front of the crowd and/or c) not good at tip-toeing, expect to not be able to see anything, as was the case with me. They do have an upper floor with a great view, but you'd have to get in quick to score spots there too. My favourite venue in Brisbane will always be Riverstage with its sloped space for this reason (sorry for comparing).
There is a pretty nice bathroom in the building, which is always useful. I didn't have any drinks that night but there is a bar as well.
Overall a pretty...
Read moreThe Tivoli is such a wonderful venue and the staff are always A+++. However they need to do more to protect the patrons with disability and accessibility issues. Tonight I took my client to The Ultimate Queen Celebration and we had horrible experiences with 3 other patrons. one before we even walked in the door. inside we were questioned by an older man, who said he had a sore leg and needed a seat, about the validity of our tickets and asked were we "really crippled". the height of rudeness! I was gobsmacked. told him off and left it at that. My client needed to go to the bathroom a short time later and I attended with her due to disability issues. when we return the old bloke and his mate had taken our seats and invited 2 more friends to come in and have their seats.... I had to ask them several times to move from our seats. people were also coming into the area as they wished and we're standing directly in front of other disability patrons to take photos, have a dance or have a conversation with someone on the other side of the barrier. I wish I could say this is the first time I've had issues at The Tivoli but unfortunately it's not. security needs to be posted at this area to protect patrons or at least be zoned more clearly so these jerks can ruin...
Read moreI received some appalling treatment last night, considering my behavior.
I was there early, waiting patiently in line, got 1 alcoholic drink and had water the rest of the night....
I may have accidentally bumped someone once and I don't know if they were related to the security or something but straight away as the main act was about to start, I was removed from the venue.
I was kicked out for being intoxicated...Pushed out onto the street and into the gutter for 2 hours. Excellent safety team....it was like you knew I wasn't that drunk.... otherwise, someone may have called me a cab.
Also, one of your security guys was just doing his job checking ID....then you had one of the patrons arc up at the security.... all for one of the female security guards to come back and say that the other security guard conducted himself badly and a report will be done on him.
What a joke to let those people in who patronize your security and staff and kick out others who have been nothing but pleasant.
There were lovely staff inside the venue, but there was just terrible, biased, possibly slightly racist head of security on...
