The Brisbane Showgrounds are centrally located at 600 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills QLD 4006.
It is within easy walking distance from the Fortitude Valley Railway Station & other public transport services such as the Brisbane City Council Bus services.
This year however, August 2025, the newly redevelopment Exhibition Railway Station is now open to the general public and trains are running regularly to the Brisbane Showgrounds.
The historic Brisbane Showgrounds Grounds is home to the Brisbane Exhibition (The Ekka), which is celebrating its 149th year.
The first day of attendance was over 40,000+, which gives you the idea that the attraction of seeing the country hospitality come to the city is definitely alive & well 😉
The Brisbane Showgrounds has all the facilities anyone requires with plenty of adequate uncovered shelters, an abundance of hospitality, & user-friendly access for people with disabilities.
There have been many changes over the years, with some of the Showgrounds being taken up by the building of Rydges Hotel 🏨, along with residential towers nearby.
One of major buildings onsite is the Royal International Convention Centre being one of the best facilitated buildings in the Showgrounds.
One of the major attractions when attending the Royal Brisbane Show is to make time to enjoy going to the fashion parade called The Fabric of Us, A love story ❤️
After that in the same building why not time out to enjoy looking at all the prize winners of cakes, photography, paintings, embroiderys which is a must to see.
Then there is the main arena where you can relax after a busy day of seeing all the animals, the fashion show, the side show alley & of course the wood chopping & show bag pavilion to watch the ring events 😀
When seated in one of the main grandstands, such as the John McDonald stand or sitting on the famous Machinery Hill, this is where you enjoy the excellent fireworks display 👍 & many other fantastic ring events.
I hope that everyone has the opportunity to visit this nostalgic place to enjoy wandering around this heritage listed property at some...
Read moreReally disappointing. Cannot believe animals accommodated in a car park beside Side Show Alley. No wonder the cows had all left and gone home. Poor animals. No thought for their wellbeing. I used to enjoy the sanctuary with the animals. They are now exposed to noise and lights of SSA. Food overpriced as was everything else. Fashion show missed the mark. It wasn't about the clothes but the dance moves. Saw many little kids crying as they were led away from the chick petting. They desperately wanted to pet a chick but the lines were too long and parents gave up. There were adults petting chick's in the designated area for goodness sake yet little one's were missing out Give me a break RNA. Toilet block I used hasn't been painted in a decade or more. Do better. I've had wonderful times at the Ekka in my life. I feel sorry for the children of 2025. They've missed...
Read moreI attended the 2023 flavour of Knotfest, a metal music festival organised by the band Slipknot.
Despite there being lots of people there, I got inside easily thanks to paying a bit more for VIP tickets. If you have that option, it’s worth the extra money.
The festival was organised very well, with lots of interesting food options, plentiful hydration stations and ample toilet facilities. There was also a large number of medical personnel and chill out zones for those who went too hard too fast.
The sound was excellent and there was plenty of room for the 2 large stages. The grandstands are always a bonus for when the arena gets packed late in the afternoon.
There were plenty of cheaply priced parking options nearby and lots of hotels if you want to stay overnight.
This was an excellent venue for a...
