THE LOGISTICS ARE FRUSTRATING I will update this after our stay but I want to express some frustrations so far with the booking and checkin procedure , and share from experience. In the Buller Holidays accom Search, apt 113 that we have booked only shows as available if you put in 4 people however, in Airbnb and the information I received, it says it takes 6 people in the Queen, 2 singles and sofa bed. Also, having to get the keys from a key safe at the Chalet from 4pm is a pain in the neck. So hereās the logistics if you arrive earlier and most people would want to ski on their arrival day. The information says that we can store gear at the Chaletās reception which from past stays there is now level 2, the same level you enter from the road side. So you get your taxi up from an On Mountain Carpark that youāll be directed to, where chains must be carried, or a private transfer from the Merimbah car park at the base of the mountain. Or get the bus up from Merimbah to the village which means an additional walk lugging your stuff to the Chalet. You drop your things in the storage room, and head out to ski. Then come back after 4pm to get the key and your luggage, but youāll probably need another taxi to St Antonās because you wonāt be able to carry ski gear, luggage and supplies. The good news is that at the end of the stay, the keys can be left in the table in the apt so we wonāt need to trek back up. Why canāt they have a key and storage at the accommodation. Of course, it is easier to jump on the Blue Bourke St chair lift from the Chalet so thatās one bonus to these convoluted logistics. I see why some friends gave up going to the snow. We are lucky enough to use a friends apt as a halfway house for our gear on the arrival day and check out day but that still required additional taxis. And what about perishables during all of this time that you donāt have access to the apartment. Bury it in the snow??!!! I worry about my pregnant daughter-in-law who had Covid last week, with all of this traipsing around and they are parking On mtn. The Checkin information suggests leaving your luggage in your car. Seriously?! We'd need a return taxi again for that and they are in such demand with often long wait times from the village. or if your car is at the base as ours will be, that is a 1 hr round trip and extremely expensive. There must be a better way. The other thing that I received only 6 days prior to our stay is that thereās VIP undercover parking available somewhere. Whatās that about and how can that be booked? To be continued. As I said Iāll report back after our weekend. Weāre very excited that thereās plenty on fresh...
