The epitome of great food coupled with exemplary service.
This very unassuming restaurant is tucked away on a quiet street in Kingsville and is run basically as a store front for home cooked food.
Starting of with the jalapeño poppers, this dish is simply magical. Roasted in a small iron skillet topped with cheeses, served with a lime that elevates the dish with its acidity, you’ll be baffled at how a dish so simple can be so good.
The BBQ chicken wings were so juicy and cooked to perfection. Paired with a blue cheese sauce, this should be a staple at every bar. Bottle that BBQ and market it at every grocery store please.
The roasted cauliflower was very much a surprise in that it was presented under a mound of garnish including dill, coriander, pickled cabbage, with crème fraîche topped with cheese. Each bite has a natural taste of fresh vegetables that you can taste the healthiness of the dish from.
The last dish that definitely needs mentioning is the Mac & Three Cheese. It’s one of those very simple dishes that might usually be an after thought, especially since it’s listed as a “Side”, but to me, turned out to be the best dish of the meal. 3 cheeses cooked to achieve the charred hard top and melted center with fluffy perfectly cooked macaroni. Mac & cheese is not something I usually get, but I doubt I’ll ever have one better that this in my coming years.
This place is definitely a hidden gem and my only reason to not want to recommend it to others is so that it doesn’t become overcrowded. But in all honesty, this is how restaurants should be run. Excellent service, a small menu with items perfected to please every customer.
Good job lads, will most definitely...
Read moreFinally but the bullet in trying this place which is around the corner from home. As skeptical as I was, and any American BBQ in Aus, this place was not bad. The sides were rather average... and the lack of pickles to cut through the richness of the meats was a bit of a let down. Especially when those sides are usually complimentary in the US... however, the brisket is pretty good. Would definitely recommend ordering the family feast deal with the brisket (rather than the chicken). It’s nice, tender and juicy, which is what a brisket should be. Not too dry at all. The Beef rib is another dish done really well here! Much like the brisket, it’s extremely tender and just fell off the bone without much effort, and little guidance. All that being said, the pork belly was rather small... taste and texture wise was definitely above average... but the price vs quantity/quality just wasn’t there. The sides weren’t great... Mac n cheese was average and a little on the dry side. The other sides we had such as fries, corn etc was standard (not negative or positive. If I was to nitpick... and this is REALLY nitpicking, I’d say some of their meats were slightly too salty, HOWEVER, as stated before... their brisket and beef ribs are defo worth going for. Do yourself a favour and give it a shot. Now, the only question is... are...
Read moreBurn City catered our Melbourne wedding. From first contact until the wedding day Raph, Steve and their team ensured we didn’t have any stress or worries and were great to work with throughout the whole process. The quality, service and presentation of food was A+, our friends and family are still taking about the food presented at the wedding. Not only were meats first class BBQ, but sides and sauces (Burn City's own BBQ and Hot Sauce) are also exceptional. We’d recommend Burn City to anyone looking to cater a wedding, function or event. Since our wedding my friend had Burn City cater his Bucks Party and I also had them cater our work Christmas Party. We are happy for anyone to contact us as a reference if you have any questions about our experience with these legends - Burn City can pass on our details!...
