Went there today for my friend's birthday breakfast treat. The table service was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive but unfortunately the food didn't match. We ordered coffee and we both had the poached eggs and bacon. We also ordered a portion of tomatoes and a portion of mushrooms. The coffees were nice. The food arrived and we both noticed that part of the egg whites weren't cooked and were transparent jelly like. The eggs arrived on two thin slices of sourdough. The butter is on the side of the plate so in order to butter the toast you had to remove the poached eggs which of course broke both eggs. We then realised our bacon was missing so we told one of the girls and she brought some over within a minute which was great but we got one piece each! The tomatoes cost $3 and I got two slices for this and the two large mushrooms were $5 but were pretty plain. We think we hadn't been there for about 10 months (?) but we do remember the food being much better than this. The bill for the two of us came to $50.80. WARNING TO NEWCASTLE RESIDENTS..

Visited this café last Saturday absolutely appalled with food and service.

I stood with my children unattended while staff mingled in the kitchen. To be seated later at a dirty table which I had to clean myself. I had to acknowledge a waitress to have our order taken to be seen like it was a hassle . My children’s food rushed out cold like it was pre cooked. My coffee tasted horrible very bitter/burnt.

To then observe the cleanliness of the toilet which had urine all over the seat, floors and a foul smell with premises…

I left feeling ill. The food is no way expectable for sale and would recommend nobody to...

Went today with my husband, pregnant daughter, son in law and their pet dog for lunch and was told that with 1hour to go to closing we had to sit outside in the blazing sun. There were tables in the shade, which were far more suitable, and we asked if we could sit there, because our daughter is pregnant, but the waitress told us no. She was packing up and leaving in one hour. Very, very disappointed and we will never go to the Source ever again.

So we walked 5 mins further to The Boatshed, and we’re now sitting outside in the shade and have ordered from the kitchen with 3 mins to go to closing. Now that service for you. Bad...
