I would like to share my experience with the new Sydney Metro trains. On my commute to and from work I need to change trains at Epping. I have to say I am impressed with the new trains, they are fast, people board them quicker so the trains are not at the station as long, they are new so they are clean and smell good. The time I use to wait to catch a train, while changing at Epping in the morning, use to be 10 minutes on average, while the longest time I have to wait now is 6 minutes, but usually I get a train to Macquarie Park within a few minutes. In the afternoon the frequency of the trains is also good for me, if I miss one train, it does not mean that I will miss my connecting train at Epping, as the time for the next train to arrive is usually within 6 minutes and not the 15 to 20 minutes I use to experience last year on the trains we use to have. I am not going to say that I have not experienced any hiccups in the service delivery, I have, but they were quite minor, and as I anticipated it may take a while for the service to be fine-tuned, it did not aggravate me. I have experienced a situation where the doors I was waiting at did not open, but the signage and direction of the train made it simple enough for me to move to the next door and exit from this one instead. Another time I saw a man with a backpack have the doors close on his backpack, I thought this may be a bit of a concern, but the automated systems worked, they sensed there was an issue and the doors opened again. I am not sure how long the support staff will be onsite, but at the moment the blue shirted Help staff are everywhere, so if people are having difficulties with adapting to the new system, someone is readily on hand to assist. I believe most people will not require any assistance catching the train, the new barriers are easily found, and directions are given over the platforms sound system, as well the signage on the floor giving directions to enter and leave the train are easy to follow, and are being adopted by the patrons, this allows people exiting the train, not to be blocked by those waiting to get on. The automated signage that tells you where you are within your journey by a graphical representation is something I like, you can easily estimate when you need to get yourself ready to disembark. The upcoming stations are announce over the sound system as well as being indicated on signs throughout the carriages. The new Sydney Metro gets a big thumbs up from me, and I think the service will inevitably...
Read moreThe largest and most ambitious transportation project in Sydneyâs urban history was finally ready to be unveiled to the public on 26 May, 2019. The new metro offers faster and more reliable train services than its predecessors. The railway will link residential areas and travellers from airports to the rest of Sydneyâs public transport. It runs across 13 stations along the North West line from Tallowong station to Chatswood station. The government is planning to extend this metro line towards Sydney Harbour and it is estimated that in 2024, Sydney will have 31 more stations. Construction is also underway south west in Bankstown which will connect to Sydneyâs Western Airport. The metro is creating more than 14,000 jobs during construction for the NSW economy. The new metro will revolutionize public transport in Australia and ensure that citizens donât require timetables.
âIt was really good, the seat was comfy. It was nice and smooth so overall it was greatâ - Daniel Vuong. âWe got on at Tallawong and got off at Chatswood, and came back again after having lunch. We were not disappointed with the overall performance of the train. Apart from some delays at some stations, the ride was smooth and we had minimal fuss. On the return journey the Sydney Metro train lived up to the expectations. On time and smooth run. It was a pleasure to be a part of the inaugural Sydney Metro trainsâ. - Mahen De Silva, professional transportation expert.
Compared to Australiaâs old train network the new metroâs top speed is significantly faster. It travels at 100km/h compared to 43km/h of the old trains so Australians can expect to arrive at their destinations faster. The metro is now more convenient for those travelling to and from jobs in the city as the metro now goes through Sydney Harbour.
âAbsolutely loved my commute with Sydney Metro. Fast, reliable and highly recommended!â...

It untangles lines, has single high throughput carriages, uses tunnels where cheaper metros over ground and removes drivers which tend to be imperfectly timed in all countries except Japan (where the training is far too intense to be legal here).
The early reviews should be in part ignored. They're mainly reviewing issues that were teething problems and the fact the line ends. It ends because it's better to open the first part of the line; it really comes into its own when the line extends in 2023.
But reviews that comment about parking availability should be addressed. There is no excuse for under supply of parking at stations (particularly in the north west). When the system is at full capacity (ever 4 minutes and lines to the CBD), parking capacity should be 3 times what it is now. If it's currently already full, there is an issue.
In these parking lots, payments should be done by Opal, as it is already being done at places like Kogarah. That is, swipe in and out with Opal and parking is free (as long as a trip from that station has been detected). If no trip has been taken and the car has been parked for longer than enough time for a drop off, charge a discouraging fee for use.
This system ensures that only genuine commuters are using...
