Major disappointment for wedding suits.
In preparation for my wedding in November 2021 my partner and I booked consultation with InStitchu in early April due to 'winning' a free shirt. I was contacted by their marketing department after signing up for their newsletter when searching fory dream wedding suit.
The whole thing is a scam, not once during the consultation was the 'free shirt' mentioned and not wanting to cause a fuss we if ignored the offer. All the promises in the world were made about how amazing my, and my groomsmens suits would look, we decided to go with InStitchu based on the initial experience, which was largely positive. We ended up paying in advance to secure our quote and arranged a fitting for everyone with ample time to have suits made in time. The experience was largely positivs up until the point they had secured our money.
From there it was nothing but a disaster. We were fortunate that the sales assisntant who initially consulted callled in sick the day we were getting fitted, she allowed me to pick a lining that would be visible through the fabric I had selected for my suit.
When we received the suits, two weeks out from the date of our wedding which was able to proceed uninterrupted, what we received was a far cry from the quality of garment promised. The fabric was cheap and sheet, you could see the pocket through the breast of the jacket, nothing fitted properly, particularly in the shoulders and areas of my body the had remained unchanged from the fitting. The fabric felt cheap and nasty. Largely it felt like we had ordered of Wish or Ali Express. When we raised our concerns and started the process the rectify the issue, the 'manager' of wedding suiting dodged avoided answering any of the questions we had raised, a particularly stressful situation when you are two weeks out from the wedding and retail was not currently open due to lockdown. They also lost one of the garments, they were unable to provide a clear answer as to how that situation would be rectifiedm
Ultimately we requested a refund which they were very quick to agree to, something I get the sense they are used to. Whilst claiming to care about his customers and urging feedback via stationary provided with garments (he provides his email address), the managing director didn't care to respond to any of the issues or complaints that we had. Luckily we were able to source suiting through another company in time.
We chose InStitchu as they promised to deliver a quality garment that matched the vision of how I wanted to look on one of the most significant days of my life. Every time I look at wedding photos, I am reminded of the failings of InStitchu and their inability to deliver a product/service they promise. I didn't get to look the way I wanted to at my own wedding, completely defeating the purpose of engaging a company 'specialising' in custom made to measure.
In summary great if you want overpriced trashy suits and customer service to match.
Avoid if you want a remotely pleasant experience and product.

Read moreAbsolutely disappointing experience. Would never recommend InStitchu to anybody, ever. The first appointment was great and then it was downhill from there. There were a number of issues that were ongoing for months with regard to 8 suits for a wedding and the lack of communication was beyond a joke. One issue was appointments that were arranged by the groomsmen and yet when they arrived at the store, they found it to be closed with no explanation as to why it was closed. The sizing was wrong for every person even after measurements were taken more than once (and confirmed to be the same on the paper as the previous fittings), however they were extremely wrong for a few people which required major changes and again the communication surrounding this was horrendous. Time frames were atrocious and it was too late to get alterations from InStitchu for a few of the other suits by the time they arrived and when the wedding came about. A week before the wedding a few of the other suits were nowhere to be found and again no explanation as to where they were or when they would be arriving. Two of the suits, including the Groom’s suit, had to be purchased elsewhere a few days before the wedding which was extremely disappointing and when the suits were eventually located, they arrived a few days after the wedding, again with no explanation. The suits that were purchased elsewhere before the wedding were incredible in comparison to what came from InStitchu e.g., one of the shirts ripped on the day of the wedding. As mentioned above there were a number of issues and these were only a few that occurred. Attention to detail and responsibility is not their strong suit. Refunds were sought and whilst they were given (which seems like a regular occurrence) there were still issues and horrible communication surrounding this as well. The refunds don’t make up for the stress and mess caused by InStitchu. We have since spoken to a number of other people who have also had horrible experiences with InStitchu so this is obviously common. Truly disappointing and not worth the hassle. For a custom tailor, my experience was that their process is tailored more towards their corporate interests rather than the client’s interests.
Here is my experience. Email updates are great. I get emails to inform me that my order has been placed, shipped and arrived. But not working / living in the city, the only time that I’m available to come into the CBD is usually on the weekends. However, seems like InStitchu does not allow customers to organize collection on the weekends (as they quote they are simply too busy on the weekends). Whilst this may be true, no one is simply too busy to accommodate a couple of customers. Take YSG Tailors for example (I’ve selected to go with them for my wedding suit over InStitchu), Ryan from YSG would take appointments beyond the usual opening hours to accommodate customers. This is what I regard as excellent customer service. Back to my order which was completed in April 2021. After being told that I couldn’t organize an appointment to collect my shirt on a weekend, I came up with an idea of just collecting my shirt without the fitting process when I am in the CBD and they accepted. As I came in to collect the shirt, a customer was being attended to and a lady who worked at InStitchu did not bother getting up from her chair to greet us and handed us our shirt, which I thought was pretty rude. As for the quality of the shirt, average at most.
There are better places in Melbourne to go to for custom suits. YSG Tailors or...
