In another adventurous production, Gertrude Opera presented "As One" which takes us inside the experience of Hannah as she transitions from male to female. Two singers perform the roles of Hannah Before and Hannah After. Joshua Erdelyi- Gotz and Marie Campbell sang beautifully, made us laugh and horrified us with riveting performances amid minimal sets and props. The music performed here by a string quartet was as rich and dynamic as a big opera production and was conducted by Alexandra Enyart. Play - soul sucking (went to see Mr Burns banking in the good reviews, don’t be fooled, it’s 5 people acting the emotion of ‘remembering’, all the jokes are just Simpson jokes, the dialogue in between isn’t clever, informative or funny, after 90 minutes we left)
Acting - good (to be fair the actors and direction was good, I think they just chose a bad play?)
Staff - nice
