Dec 16 23 High tea the managers and staff are always inviting and friendly. Free flowing water, tea and coffee. The view is always amazing and always different looking over Port Phillip Bay.
Dec 8 23 We had our BNI Business Decision Makers and of year dinner. I can speak on behalf of everyone they LOVED IT! We were looked after like tables of kings, such a rare thing to have such amazing customer service. The BEST creamy oysters you’ll ever have and the black truffle mash is like being in food heaven. The rest of the food was nothing less than perfect. Suzanna yet again nailed it with the wine options and friendly service. 👍👍👍
Oct 3 The food: WOW testing out the fresh creamy oysters 🦪, highly recommend they are added to the dinner menu as an ‘additional side’ starter, the sauce was different which made this even more special, the chef has passion in your kitchen! Black Truffle mash is something that world wide ONLY #35 has perfected, I would eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is not often your mind escapes to a warm night in an Italian village, live opera in the background with the smell of black truffle, fresh cream, butter and creamy potato, this is what happens when a chef at 35 ‘creates’ black truffle mash. I can only hope this permanently replaces the potato wedges. The wine: the selection should be left to the staff, they know what they are doing and I have never been disappointed. The staff: EVERYone was friendly, smiles and makes you feel like you never want the night to end. It’s like every time things just get better!! The popcorn espresso martini is gone, i just picked up a could of bottles of Kailua ‘Salted Caramel Flavour’ which I think could be a HIT now popcorn is gone.
Jul 23 Why would you spend your time or money for anything less than the AMAZING service, quality of food and wine offered at #35. Our 19mth old young lady couldn’t give a stuff how you feel about this review so here is her unfiltered response ‘I finished a complete bowl of spaghetti bolognese and stole desert from mum and dad, if only I could have tried the wine ‘YUMMY’. Suzanna who runs the restaurant can only be explained as a 6 star manager, we have been going back over and over just to be in the company of such a bright happy person. The staff are human, professional and know how to turn the night into an enjoy full experience. Thank you to everyone at #35. My only request, please bring back the black truffle mash potato and oysters as a separate purchased item ;)
Nov 22 The restaurant is certainly back to 5 star service, it’s an enjoyable experience, great view of Melbourne and amazing food and great selection of wine. If you want something different try the popcorn...
Read moreNo. 35 offers decent value for money with the three course menu, however I think there are far too many flavours which detracts from the experience.
The views form an outstanding background and my partner had organised a birthday dinner for me here. We both had the Yellowfin tuna, onion textures, foie gras which was probably the best dish we had all night. The Yellowfin tuna is lost in the strong flavours of the onion textures and the foie gras is nothing but an embellishment. The tuna could have been replaced with any protein as it seemed forgotten amongst the onion.
For mains i chose the Crispy pork belly, coconut cauliflower cream, scallop carpaccio, radicchio, Canadian maple glazed Jerusalem artichoke, homemade X.O. sauce. Immediately you can tell there are far too many things going on in the one dish. It seemed to want to fusion with Asian inspiration, but it was definitely not a happy marriage. All the elements in isolation were great, but together made for very uneasy flavours.
My partner has had a fair few duck dishes across Melbourne in the past few months and went for duck again at No. 35. Seared duck breast, whipped goats cheese, beetroot rose, duck parfait choux, caramelised walnuts, rosemary jus was how it appeared on the menu and again had too many ingredients to really know what the hero of the dish was. The duck was very tender but the skin could have been done better.
I thought that the side dishes that we ordered had far too strong flavours to pair with any of the main dish offerings. The twice fried potatoes seemed like a vegetarian version of sweet and sour pork and the broccolini which had a good char and flavour was marred by the salsa verde.
Dessert was a Snickers inspired parfait and tiramisu. Both of these were good but the plates were overembellished with different elements not adding to the dining experience.
Overall a decent night out with a great view. No. 35 for the price could be a regular go to, but seemingly is relying on the brilliant view rather than...
Read moreFor a fine dinning restaurant I think it was pretty standard The oysters were good but they forgot the sides it comes with example vinegar the pati with bread was slice of toast cut in 3 pieces was hoping for some amazing bread but disappointed. For entree there was only 3 Tiny prawn ravioli on my Plate and I couldn’t taste them because the sauce was over powering. The Tuna plate was great taste. For main The lamb rack was only 2 small pieces literally one bite each nothing special, the barramundi was great and tasty give them that. One Desert was great no complaints the other chocolate moose was average and the coco pops on top tasted like it was stale. I Felt rushed when I ate my 3 course meal because it felt like every-time I finished my meal the waiters or waitresses were behind me ready to take my plate as soon as I took my last bite. The anniversary plate we had was two macaroons I think they could have done better with something more appealing and presentable being it was special occasion for me And my wife. They forgot my glass of red wine with my main I had to ask for it and my coffee with my desert also. The venue looks basic it’s old and smells old also views were not that great during the day looks nothing like it was on tik toc app, the food and the venue they were showing was the atrium in the lobby area but on the videos that wasn’t the restaurant where we ate for dinner it looked like a “wow gotta go there” but it wasn’t. Also we got to the restaurant at 5:15pm for our 5:30pm booking and the door to the restaurant was locked so we had to wait in the corridor while they opened at exactly 5:30pm which I found not professional, and there was a line of people waiting to get in for there booking. We had to give the table back within 1.5hrs and we took 20 mins to just get into the dining area and another 15 mins to take our order so I think this restaurant needs to up...
