In short - disappointing bar crawl with very little direction, interaction from staff and activities to encourage sociability. They’ll give you 5 mins to drink up in the first bar and then lazily make sure everyone gets between venues. Ultimately the staff disappointed me, bar crawls are made to bring people to less known bars and end on a night club and the staff are there to make these bars more fun and get people to interact and I felt like if we had just gone to these places on our own we would have had the same experience without the cost.
1st - Chaise lounge 2nd - Retro 3rd - Ballers
3 free shots of spirit mixed with juice, 1/3 vodka so only 1 shot in total over 3 bars.
No free pizza as advertised
The main reason to go on a bar crawl is to get to know people and the staff are there to act as hype men to get us to interact, make sure we’re enjoying ourselves and keep us from harming ourselves and others.
I witnessed two incidents with the same staff member. One girl was clearly a bit intoxicated and as she stumbled up the stairs in the second bar she was told to get some water whilst being given the shot token. Second incident two girls threw a cone in front of a bus, the staff member saw them pick it up only to turn around and jog away to avoid having to do anything about it.
Another staff member told me to find a girl to put the glow stick on my arm rather than help me himself.
You arrive at 8pm and get ushered downstairs by the bouncer. No greeting from the staff or people outside wearing the shirts to show that you’re in the right place. First bar is important to get people to start chatting, could have done with beer pong rather than Jenga or jenga with a dare twist rather than the basic version but the main issue was lack of staff interaction. Welcome us as we come through the door. Go on the mic and say there’s glow sticks on the table and to get kitted out so we can tell who’s on the bar crawl. Just do something other than just announce at the end to drink up and leave.
Second bar was supposed to be retro but it was more RNB on the top floor and as we were leaving the second floor was more retro music but this is subjective. Ignoring the sticky floor and overpriced drinks there again was even less staff interaction. The only way we knew we were moving on was because the group started to migrate toward the exit.
Last place was nice but again, once you’re through the door you may as well have come on your own.
This is probably the worst bar crawl I’ve been on, and I’ve been on quite a few globally. One of the other reviews said this to which the companies response was you can’t compare bar crawls from Europe but if you can’t compare a bar crawl to a bar crawl then what can you compare it to?
I’d recommend joining a Facebook group and going to one of their social...
Read moreI've been on numerous bar crawls in different cities across Europe and I'd rate my experience here as between average & good overall.
The staff were friendly, did a good job and the food was nice.
However, I'm not sure if or how often the venues change, but for a Friday night overall they weren't great. Club Retro as the 2nd wasn't very busy inside and there were a lot of people in their 40s on the rooftop, which for a mostly youthful crawl group wasn't the best.
The 3rd venue was better, but we arrived at the last venue of a bar/club with a cool bar but small dance floor at like 11:30 and there wasn't even a queue for a vip queue jump to apply to. So quite a lot of people left and went somewhere else later in the night.
So with some better venues selected for this, it could have been a 4 or maybe even a 5...
Read moreI’ve been on several of these bar crawls all on different nights. The venues change between the nights. Saturday finished at a big club.
Great bang for buck. Perfect for travellers, newbies in Melbourne, and even residents who are keen on a fun night out, or want to meet new people.
The organisers gave us heaps of free add-ons and fun stuff to keep, when all I was expecting was a tour itself.
If you’re in Melbourne for a short time, put this on your to-do list for...
