Extremely Appalling Experience at The Bank on Collins. I visited the venue on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, around 5:55 pm, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While patiently waiting at the bar, I encountered some concerning incidents. The manager, Iza, displayed a lack of professionalism when she rudely instructed me to move to another location. Despite this, Mia, a staff member, kindly apologized for the wait. Upon expressing my concerns about the manager's behavior in a non-confrontational manner, I was met with dismissive comments from the red-haired bartender, Alan. He suggested I should go easy on the manager, citing her second language as a reason. I emphasized that English is also my second language, and such an excuse is not acceptable. To my surprise, Alan's response was to direct me towards the exit, stating, "If you're not happy, the door is that way." I sought confirmation from the manager, who did not deny the bartender's sentiment. This raises serious questions about the establishment's commitment to hospitality. Adding to the disappointment, the overall atmosphere upon entering the venue was unwelcoming. With the exception of Mia, none of the staff seemed interested in providing a positive experience. In summary, my visit to The Bank on Collins left me questioning the professionalism and hospitality of the staff. Mia was the sole beacon of warmth and competence in an otherwise disappointing experience.

Following our previous great review re the Bank on Collins.. we returned tonight on a wet rainy Melbourne to have dinner (restaurant was only 1/4 occupied) but regrettably our meals were terrible ☹️ the linguine so overcooked as per photo in my seafood pasta. The entire dish was Bland consisted of frozen prawns & mussels! As soon as I saw the plate I requested for kitchen to cook a new plate of proper linguine so that they don't waste the seafoods, but shockingly they brought out a plate of plain linguine with no sauce just slightly improved, not to mention the salad on our fish and chips dish also consisted of wilted lettuces. The one thing we were happy with toight was the waiting staff's' attentive service and how she handled the situation when we told her how bad the meals were. What ashame that kitchen & the food quality totally let down the overall experience as we always enjoyed bringing our friends here for lovely drinks in the amazing old bank foyer, followed by dinner.

My husband and I came here for the first time on Valentine's weekend. We were blown away by the beautiful setting and friendly, attentive service. Our drinks (a traditional whiskey sour-- not on the menu-- and Anna's Margarita) were strong and perfectly balanced. The food was exquisite, and it's hard for us to dine out as we are on the Keto diet so accommodating this was really exciting. Service was fast, waiter was playful and informative, and we would 100% go back again. I'd say the ONLY suggestion I have is with such an incredible visual bar setup, the venue should use this to their advantage and promote old time cocktails as well as provide higher quality alcohol (everything was pretty generic and we asked for several things they didn't have including no dark beers). If they improved on this area, I think it'd be a truly amazing experience that takes you back in time to fit the history of the building.

It is the most disappointing dining experience, we have been waiting for our food for almoat 2 hours since 19.30, and the drink just came out 5 mins ago. When we asked the staff about our order, without hesitation they recommended us to cancel the order and leave or wait for another hour as nothing has been prepared. It was totally unexpected response. Then, i negotiated rather is it possible to at least bring out the charcuterie board as it just slice of cure meat and they asked for apology as they short of staff, and they run the dining with a lot of new recruit so everything turn into chaos and told us to cancel the orders. I told them they shouldnt take any booking, or at least told me hours ago, now is almost 21.00 and we go home with an empty tummy. Worst is this happend on Valentine Day, and i am sure a lot other fellas here experince this nightmare here too. I saw a lot of customers received the wrong food. The waiter just took it back and give it to another customer. A total disaster tonite at Bank of Collins. It surely has ruined a lot of couple dinner on their Valentine Day. It doesnt even...

Very disappointed overall. A few key things before speaking about the food. The bathrooms were a disgrace, the door open and the facilities equivalent to a public restroom untouched for a week. The dining tables were not cleaned or wiped down after each meal, merely a new napkin, water glass and cutlery put down, no attempt to clean at all, table was sticky and stained and generally unpleasant. The staff made very little attempt to engage, I had to exit my table re and go to the bar to get a drink despite it being table service. The first two options I chose off the menu were not available and the dish that I decided upon was undercooked, obviously reheated as opposed to freshly cooked, served with a single lettuce leaf as a salad and was unappealing in every sense if the word. Prices although not outrageous were on the high end to begin with and the overall service left a great deal to be desired. I would not recommend dining there although the atmosphere is unique and may be suitable for a casual drink at the bar if that is all you are after. Very sad as I had hoped...
