Piedimonte’s is an icon in the Fitzroy North landscape, but despite its vintage charm this supermarket falls further and further short.
Prices are high, especially for fresh produce which is uniformly average. (You’re much better off shopping on Queens Parade for your fruits and vegetables if you live locally.)
The registers are regularly understaffed, and there is no system in place to prioritise those customers who’ve been waiting the longest, which means that in situations where an additional register needs to be opened to manage the growing queue of shoppers, it becomes a free-for-all, and those who have been queuing longest are often served last.
Labels listing “Specials” and discounts are regularly placed in the wrong positions, which ultimately leads to confusion and annoyance when the cashier rings up the bill.
Finally (and this is really a niggle, but one that can prove very frustrating) the photo printing services that have long been one of the most unique not-unreliable features of Piedimonte’s are now only available when certain staff are rostered on. Of course there’s no way of knowing when that will be, so if you want images printed it’s anybody’s guess whether you’ll be able to so one day to the next.
The staff are lovely, though. That’s...
Read moreFirst I placed an online order for about $450 and had about a quarter of my order chopped due to a lack of stock. Then I had items worth almost $60 missing from the delivery and, when I rang to get it sorted and was given the run around, I decided to call the owner directly on his mobile phone thinking it might make a difference. Boy was I wrong! Instead of the owner trying to help me, he actually accused me of lying and said he would never deliver to my address again!!! I suggested he look at the photographic evidence to verify that I was telling him the truth. Once he did this, instead of receiving an apology for how rudely I was treated, I had to wait a further two weeks for a PARTIAL refund. Its a real shame. If only I had been treated professionally and respectfully, I actually had a whole NETWORK of potential new clients to forward to Piedimonte's. As it stands, I AM NEVER BUYING ANYTHING FROM THEM EVER AGAIN. The products are significantly more expensive than comparable products elsewhere and the service is the worst I have ever experienced. There are SO MANY other supermarkets out there to choose from. You really can do so much better by shopping...
Read moreI came into the store today and to purchase the market day specials. I bought some of the budget scotch fillet and decided against the rump steak due to the fat content. Only to be throughly disappointed to watch an employee walking out with the beautifully cut meat. Same meat cut, I had just purchased but mine was a lesser quality. So what was left for customers appears to be the “end off cut” sold at the budget price. Hers was about the size of mine, all four together, fat removed and just wrapped in the clear cling wrap. The ones that I purchased from your store, had no fat cut off, was wrapped in the plastic. Additional to the original cut packet and the black thing at the bottom soaked in blood which I might add, contributed to the weight! This was definitely a bad experience, unlikely to return to the store again . This is so unfair for your market day specials. Disappointed IGA customer. Btw we are a family of 8, so we look forward too market day specials.
Update: to date they have not bothered to reach out in regards to their concern. Even after contact from head office. Completely ignored! Ruining IGAs reputation in regards to non...
