The park itself is a lovely spot and the town is great. I stayed during the Christmas NY period and a lot of family and friends of the owners stayed so very clicky. My dog has issues with some big dogs which I tried to keep under control. Unfortunately as a single female traveller with a dog that barks at SOME other big dogs I was made to feel unwelcome. The final straw was when I wandered over to happy hour and the owner Lisa told me to turn around and “shut my dog up”. I will never return to this park and as park owners should NEVER speak to a PAYING guest like that. I’ve been in a customer service role and was disgusted. The funny thing is the park owner carried a spray bottle for her own dog. I do not recommend this park purely because of the owners.
As per the owners’ response. The dog next door to where I was situated was NEVER on a lead and, in fact, was permitted to free play in your park. My dog has never received complaints from other caravan parks and my friend left early giving you a bonus of free money due to the fact that the dogs together were causing upset. I left early also giving you another free bonus because I was made to feel unwelcome. Your park rules should apply to all and as stated you should never speak to a paying guest the way I was spoken to. In future not one rule for one and another for someone else due to your favouritism. You did not approach us in a civil manner to advise us of complaints other than to say to us to “shut our dogs up” when we were socialising with other guests very nearby. The other dog next door also barked when they were socialising with your friends at happy hour. Another incorrect point - my friend wasn’t there for a week and a half only 4 days. Both dogs were on leads at all times. The barking was intermittent and never let go uncontrolled. The bad review is...
Read moreJust a great little caravan park in the town and close to everything. Just behind the Main Street where all the shops, cafes, pubs and visitor information centre. We found the amenities very clean and in good order. The bathrooms were a little dated but clean and practical. The hot water showers were absolutely number one. The park is situated right next to a nature reserve with lots of bird life and possums at night. They had a fire pit that had great seating area. Lots of places in and around the park to just chill out. The park had e-bikes for hire so you could enjoy some the great bike trails in Rutherglen. We rode our bikes to Cowara,NSW using the new rail trail loops accessible from within Rutherglen. Lots of wineries to visit on the rail trail loops. The rail trail itself was in great condition and has only a few sections where you share the road with vehicles. We had a powered caravan site which was very roomy considering the size of the overall park. We had great service starting with the phone call to book our stay. Tony was a great guy and staff was informative about their town and suggested some options while visiting Rutherglen. We will definitely be back for a visit in the future and highly recommend this park as a destination well worth staying at. They had a good range of cabins and tent sites powered and unpowered sites...
Read moreWe recently stayed for three nights at Rutherglen Holiday Park and couldn’t be more impressed! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm, welcoming check-in that was quick, easy, and stress-free. As BIG4 members, we also received a thoughtful little welcome gift, which was a lovely touch.
Our site was easy to access and beautifully positioned overlooking a peaceful lake setting filled with birds and local wildlife—such a relaxing view to enjoy every day. One of our favourite features was the communal fire pit, which is set up each evening (weather permitting) with firewood supplied. Watching the sun set over the lake with the fire crackling was just magic. We even had the pleasure of meeting a lovely couple around the fire and enjoyed sharing stories about our travels.
It’s the small, thoughtful touches like this that really make a difference. The park grounds are immaculate, and the amenities—particularly the camp kitchen and laundry—were spotless and a pleasure to use.
Rutherglen’s charming main street is just a short stroll away, offering everything you could need to make your stay easy and comfortable.
We highly recommend Rutherglen Holiday Park to anyone looking for a safe, peaceful, and exceptionally well-maintained place to stay. We’ll definitely be back on our way...
