Love this little Beach area and great for swimming, body boarding, and surfing. Beautiful soft sand, often flat waters or gentle wanes, depending on weather. As the name suggests, it is shaped like a horseshoe and feels protected because of it. Great times spent here, and families love it. To get onto the beach, there is a gentle hill to walk down, walking path follows the beach and then a few steps onto the sand. There are toilets nearby and a 'kiosk' with typical fish, chips, burgers, sandwiches, and a good variety of flavoured ice cream, etc. This is a happy spot for me when I visit SWR, and there are walking paths around for different views of the ocean, rocks to sit/lay on. Free parking is on the top of the hill or in the new redone carpark (in front of the marine rescue building) Not far from Horseshoe is a children's playground, so more for the kids. This is a great spot for a day out, you won't regret it. Unfortunately, it is harder for wheelchair access. Would highly recommend this beach and close areas AND of course there are other cafes, gelato, Seabreeze Hotel, fashion shops and the caravan park nearby. Love it. What more is...
Read moreI went fishing on holidays and fished there. One girl approached and said she report if catch small fish even if she didn't qualify inspection authority person. And said she will be report fish authority people. After few minutes time my in law caught 40cm flathead. She didn't ask to measure and grabbed and released it our permission. We do understand what's wrong and right to enjoy and release fish sizes with fisheries measure maps . I really didn't get her attitude. And so made us disappointed. Felt like against law and ruined our holidays. She brought 4 dogs without ties on public beach area even if few peoples there. Seems she was local but so rude to talk visitors from another areas. She treated all fishing persons against law. We never ever go back there anymore and so disappointed. We bought all nsw fishing license and enjoy it but alot of locals made us out...
Read moreSouth West Rocks has a beautiful little beach surrounded by towering pines. Its sheltered area is a popular destination for couples and families wanting to swim. We also learnt from a local friend of ours that Horseshoe Bay Beach is close to rewarding fishing spots though you’d need a decent size boat to enjoy the catch rather than positioning yourself on the beach sides which local people regularly do. Picturesque ocean views with beachside boardwalks for...
