The Heritage beachside Cafe — Restaurant in South West Rocks

Be mindful of previous reviews for this place as it has recently changed hands, so there is no reset button for previous negative reviews, I checked, there aren't many. A great find for us, great view and easy parking. The best, best ! Vegan burger (their own amazing, in house made, patty is the foundation ingredient, great texture, like pulled meat) they wouldn't give us their secret, no surprises there. Bonsoy for our coffee, tick. The only negative is the South West Rocks tap water, grrrrr! The owner tells us a filtered water station is coming soon. As they have just taken this cafe over, they are fixing things as they go. Her business partner is Vegan, so they will always have vegan options on the menu, she said it was becoming very popular, people not wanting to eat killed and tortured things. Having grown up in Port Macquarie, I find now that Crescent Head and South West Rocks are way nicer. First off, this is not a negative review but it’s not a positive review, either. We were chatting with a nice local couple the evening before about the restaurants and cafes for breakfast in South West Rocks and were told that the ‘Chop and Grill’ was a great place for breakfast. We told them we were hoping to try the ‘Heritage Beachside’ for breakfast and they quickly glanced at each other, saying nothing… I should have picked up on this as a telltale sign of what lay ahead.

Don’t get me wrong, the food was flavourful, not hot, but not ‘cold’, the service was ‘ok’ and the restaurant is lovely but… six dollars for two little slices of chorizo is a bit much. (See the photo) I did ask to make sure It wasn’t a mistake and I was told that it was, in fact, what I would get for six dollars.

So, saying all of that, stopping here won’t be a priority for us in the future as there are better value options available in...

Went for breakfast this morning with friends from interstate started bad as there was heaps of tables with customers but no food in front of them. We ordered and waited. After 1 1/2 hours with nothing not even our drinks I went and asked for my money back and we would go somewhere else. I was told our food was the next order up and we were informed when we ordered it would be an hour. (We weren’t told this)My son has an allergy to eggs and asked for a bacon roll with bbq sauce only, it came out with hollandaise all over the bacon( lucky he checked it before eating it)Tables were dirty, crockery hadn’t been cleared, no serviettes, just disappointing all round. Sorry guys I’m usually pretty easy going with reviews as everyone can have a bad day but as im a chef myself and eat out a lot, this is just not acceptable when you’re paying...
