What a hidden gem - never knew it existed. View from the balcony is amazing. One of the best bar designs I've ever seen. Food was extremely good. Spring rolls were lovely with two dipping sauces. The Fisherman's basket was huge and extremely well cooked. Sirloin steak was very well cooked and the sticky toffee pudding is possibly the best dessert in SWR. All staff extremely are friendly and all provide great service. Special shout out to Courtney - who provided exceptional service and was easy to talk to. She's extremely friendly and remembered my name from my last visit and greeted me by name when I entered the premises. Certainly will be back. If you haven't been there before then do yourself a favour and give it a go. Make a reservation online or call to ensure your table. Have a curry night on Thursday nights.

This was one of the most pleasant dining experiences I've had in a while. The view from the absolute beach front balcony is simply stunning. The staff are all friendly, happy, efficient, and helpful. The food is sensational. The cook on the creamy mussels was the best I've ever experienced and they were so plump and juicy, bathing in the creamiest white wine garlic sauce that was delicious. The oysters, so fresh. The salt and pepper soft shelled crab was a little lonely on its own on the plate. Another would have made it better value but was tasty. The garlic prawn skewers were delicious, but the duck spring rolls underwhelming. They were the odd dish of the day. Everything else was superb. The kitchen was quite happy to supply a request not on the menu.

Perfect location and very close to the water. Views are outstanding and the staff friendly and helpful. Food was suprisingly good. Seafood was fresh and we'll cooked. Octopus was perfectly tender and we'll seasoned and matched with a nice sauce (sundried tomato and cashew maybe). Fish was fresh and also well cooked. A selection of local beers (Crescent head brewery XPA was great) as well as majors. Wines good as well. Could easily plonk down for a session with views like that and the sound of the waves lapping ashore.

COMPLAINT ….. !!!!

Administration SLSC South West Rocks Re: Lunch booking: 6th February 2025 BOULDERS BAR & BISTRO

Hello Vicki, I would like to make a comment about our experience today.

We are three long term residents of South West Rocks who booked a 12.30 farewell lunch to a good friend. The waiter incorrectly served a garden salad and skewered prawns to one guest, without realising he actually had in his hands a cous cous garden salad. As guests we were not aware of the contents of a garden salad, so the salad was accepted and the guest combined the prawns with the salad.

Subsequently the guest who ordered a cous cous salad received a garden salad a few minutes later which was basically lettuce leaves. Being allergic to prawns, it was impossible to exchange meals.

Too late to make the change, we notified the staff who argued the point, refusing to rectify the problem. Speaking to the manager, it became ugly quickly.

We would like to express our great disappointment, believing that the incident could easily have been avoided by bringing the correct salad without an argument and as a result of our experience we will not be in a hurry to return.

Trying one further time to communicate upon leaving, staff continued to argue the point and suggested we should ‘just go’.

We would like to think the manager and her staff would be more professional in their approach to guests.

Yours sincerely,

Cynthia Allan, Jo...

We make a point of diverting to "The Rocks" whenever we travel north, to stay at The Heritage, and to stroll across the road to visit the Surf Club in order to take-in the beach views, to enjoy the cheap drinks (compared to home), and to partake in the better than average pub-style bistro food.

On this trip we weren't sure what to expect post the worst of Covid-19, but while the views and drink prices were the same, we couldn't believe the new Bistro menu....... Wow!!

The food selection was always pretty good for a small seaside township, but there's now a much wider choice, and meals that in terms of presentation, flavour, and variety rival the best in Greater Sydney..... and believe it we've tried many!

We told the pleasant young women to waited our table how great our meals were, and she mentioned that the Club has a new chef.

That explains the improvement, and while it may take some patience by the Club's management to accept criticism from a few diners who prefer pre-cooked fish, chips, sausages and mash, congrats to the Club for persevering and for striving to move beyond good "pub food" to a menu that blends the best of the old bistro and what is now a restaurant.

Oh.... and congrats to the...

I'm 65, grew up in Southport, been eating seafood when I was old enough to eat solids. From smoked cod on Fridays, yellow and white mullet row when they were running, taylor fresh caught from Main Beach, barra from the Kennedy and many seafood restaurants since... The Fisherman's Basket from SWR Surf Club last night was the best seafood feed I've ever eaten. Thought I would compliment the chef! Expecting some grey whiskered old salt with an eye patch and parrot on his shoulder I met young Molly. Just the most amazing seafood taste experience in all my years, best oysters, scallops, prawns, squid, flathead, sauces.... To top it off all the staff were so helpful and happy to please, they obviously had great teachers in hospitality and humanity. I didn't ask Molly where she got her talents, suspect it started from mum and I bet Dad was a fisherman😁🤔 The place to eat on the east coast of Australia. Well done and thank...
