We visited recently and found Malt & Honey a lovely venue. While I can appreciate parking could be troublesome, the stars aligned for us and we found one quickly. The service was mostly good (putting 2 tables together no fuss), albeit a little lacking initially when multiple staff walked by doing their tasks and did not acknowledge us. After that though and the order placed, the food came pretty quickly and everything was correct. I loved my Twisted Avocado dish and the Eggs Benedict was also really enjoyed. The big brekkie had by our 2 other attendees were a hit and a miss for various reasons (one mentioning that it was a little greasy for their liking and the other saying they enjoyed it). One other minor inconvenience was dripping from the roof onto the tables, while not a fault of the venue, could be rectified perhaps with an umbrella above the table. Again this was probably due to the rain in the early morning/overnight. The coffee was great and babycino also a hit. The location is great, super close to the beach for a walk afterwards.

Would be a fantastic place to have brekkie if not for the single lane of parked cars blocking the great view of the ocean. The staff are very friendly, efficient and helpful. Coffee is very important to me, and the coffee served here is average. On the slightly burnt side with a sourness, which I think is the beans. The big brekkie was enjoyable, the mushrooms being the stand-out, but there was nothing else remarkable about it. I left the eggs til the end, and they were stone cold, which really surprised me because I'm not a slow eater. The eggs Benny were nice, eggs cooked to order but could've had a little more hollandaise sauce. For the price, I would've expected slightly more 'wow' factor.

After a dismal result from a place on the next block, we decided to try malt and honey for breakfast. It was not a disappointment though the food could use a little bit of work. We had their big breakfast and it was perfect for my wife and I. My favourite part was the bacon and poached eggs but the sausage and amazing sourdough were good too. Still, it was better than paying six dollars for two minuscule slices of chorizo. My only issue was that the baked beans and the supplied barbecue sauce were both in plastic containers and the baked beans weren’t spectacular. Not much of a complaint in reality.

Not impressed with service, just moved to area so was excited to explore new coffee shops! BUT do not go here if you expect good service. I went to counter and ordered, I also asked that my dirty table be cleared, was not given a table number. 27 minutes later after watching staff clear and clean empty tables I called her over and queried my dirty table. She said she cleared other tables and didn’t see me etc. attitude was awful and I come from a hospitality background! I asked quietly asked to speak to manager and that I would like refund. She went back into shop and proceeded to tell manager quite loudly so that the whole shop could hear. 10 minutes later after watching my drink being walked around trying to find me I was given my drink and refund. No apology except they were to busy. Mmmmm I counted 7 tables of customers and at least 6 staff. An apology would have been nice not excuses! Obviously customers do not come first here and holiday trade makes up for being...

Poor service!! We ordered 2 decaf lattes on Almond milk, big breakfast and an acai bowl. Food came out first. I asked the waitress to please check on our coffees as we had watched several people who came in after us served theirs She disappears, comes back and says it is being made now. Seeing other coffees coming out, I go up to the counter and ask the cashier if our coffee order was ready, she says its being made now. 30 mins. has gone by, I go up again. The barista then says to the young cashier “I never received the order” , instructs her to write it down and like magic a few minutes later we receive our coffee. Horrible customer service. UPDATE FOLLOWING THE RESPONSE FROM THE CAFE OWNER: Great accountability, it was 7:52 am and only 6 other people in the cafe!!! The lions share of the customers coming in were after us, thus my point!! Train your young staff members to actually check on a coffee order, and then they both would have known the barista never received...
