It was not a night to remember. We had a chance to try mov'in boat because of the voucher given by a friend. We went there on 11 Feb, Thur. In terms of experience, not so good. The screen was not big enough to see the details. I was even wearing my eyeglasses but I couldn't clearly see the face of the actors. The audio was not audible as well, probably because it was due to a combination of people chatting around you, the open area and not a great sound system. My suggestion is to have a bigger screen with a higher resolution. For the bed, we got wet coming from the moisture from the rain or for whatever reason (Yuck! I wonder how many spilled their drinks there). They did not inform us beforehand, not even a warning in the website. Our pants were all wet from behind. We have to ask the attendants what can be done, and they said there's nothing they can do about it. They told us to get a "plastic" cover from the bar, which we did. If they could have provided this information in the website then probably we did not expect too much. Also the beds, the pillows and life vests looked so filthy. I don't think they sanitize them after each night. Again, this is not in compliance with a covid-safe area. If someone who was sick with COVID went there, I am pretty sure it will be a disaster. The actual movie started late, it says 8:30 but started 15 minutes after because of the advertisements from the sponsors. They could have shown that a bit earlier like 15 minutes before the showtime. Also, why will it be open from 6:00 when the movie will only start 2.5 hours after? And you reserve seats when booking online, but I still saw some people not being able to get a bed. If you want to watch a movie, just go to a cinema or do it at the comfort of your home since most of the movies shown here are already...
Read moreUnfortunately I cannot in good faith recommend this place. After Donning a gross looking life vest we stepped onto a small rowboat. In order to watch the movie you must first locate and dock to a mooring. Finding a vacant mooring in the dark while in a small rowboat would prove to be a stressful and very unenjoyable task. After being unsuccessful in finding a free mooring I asked a staff member in a motorboat if he could help us find one before the movie starts. to which he replied "keep trying" and zoomed off!
The seats were uncomfortable and the screen is relatively small considering how far back you are seated. Using the bathroom during the film is practically infeasible.
As for the experience itself. you feel like a goldfish with half of darling-harbour watching you! you will likely be in the background of many peoples photos! and as to be expected the harbour water stank! the boat felt very sketchy especially with 4 people and there is a very real risk of falling in!
Not the kind of quality one would expect for a $120 movie...
Read moreI would leave 0 stars if I could. I emailed asking for a refund to cancel my tickets due to the evolving covid19 situation in Sydney right now and was told that I can't have one as they are "covidsafe" and so only a voucher can be offered and only if I give proof of my address. Why should I send my licence and private identity property over email to a movie company just because I don't want to risk going to see a movie in the middle of a pandemic? Seems bizarre to me. I have never ever had this request from any company before. Mind you most businesses are happy that people want to protect the community and do the right thing and happily refund or reschedule. Future movies are all booked out, a voucher is useless anyway. This event should be shut down and is irresponsible. Mind you - another openair cinema in Sydney has already had a positive COVID19 case. I have yet to get any further replies from this company regarding my refund or voucher or a clarification for why a identity and address proof is needed...
