Read morewonderful multi-award-winning playground designed for 'acceptable risk' so tiny kids even in nappies delight in splashing and play in water that is never more than 2" deep. Kids watch and learn - there is a 30' high rope pyramid - amazingly tiny girls see others do it, then climb purposefully to the very top - they feel on top of the world when they get there - I've even seen a kid fall from near the top, bounce off the next rope down, catch himself and continue on without concern - THAT'S a good design !
The other amazing thing is unless it 's unpleasant weather (too hot/too cold/raining) it will be busy even late at night - and the only time I've ever seen the rope pulley flying fox empty was when it was raining and only one family was playing around - I told the kids - 'hey - rare opportunity - the flying fox is free !' - they screamed with delight and rushed off to use it. Enjoy.
The wide slippery slide 🛝 is wonderful on school holidays nice days to see 4 kids sliding down side by side in random head first or feet first, 15 waiting at the top and another 12 climbing up the back - looks scary but kids self-adjust if they see a traffic jam below and brake - even crashes bring squeals of delight and no harm done ✅ -...
Read moreSydney's Darling Harbour/Darling Quarter offers something for everyone. Whether you yearn to ride a bicycle, splash in the water (town fountain type fresh water), peddle/paddle a pedal boat, meander around, shop, eat, drink (low to high end in cost), ride the Ferris wheel etc etc. Or to just visit the world class Sydney Aquarium or Madam Tussaud's, there is something to appeal to all ages, genders and is great visiting anytime from early morning to late in the evening. This area is appealing because it is pedestrian traffic only, and is a great and scenic escape from the chaos of the CBD. It's easily accessible from Town Hall station (an easy walk downhill), Haymarket/Chinatown & Paddy's Markets. Or by water via Sydney Ferry from Circular Quay (and other ferry stops as well). While it can attract quite a crowd, but with relatively wide pedestrian thoroughfares it copes fairly well. Although cancelled this weekend (Sat 4th Jan 2020) due to fire restrictions, the free Saturday Night fireworks display is brief but impressive, and well worth the effort of an evening visit if you have the...
