I have attended a few trial classes, so if you are THAT person (like me), and you donāt want to attend 4+ like me, feel free to read along!
First: Pole Athletica IS pricier than other places, but this is due to several reasons I noted (and hence why I chose them):
They break down each technique so you do everything correctly (this is especially good if you want to avoid injury or if you want to look good doing pole), rather than showing and just rushing expecting you to do it.
They CAN and answer all questions you have about a certain technique or movement. (I did have quite a lot and they are very happy to answer thoroughly!)
No making choreography next to the pole while not learning anything. If you just want to dance around and only learn one thing per class, choose other places! I personally want to pay to learn techniques and once I learnt them, I want to learn to put them together, not dincy-dancing next to the pole without hardly any learning especially proper technique.
The studio is actually clean, does not smell, is not crowded and they also do ask students to clean their poles and mats after themselves
They have mats (a big plus that is missing from any other places) and provide shaving cream/grip if you donāt have any (such a plus).
Again, they are clean and not overcrowded. Cleanliness was a big plus for me once I experienced other studios. It is very disheartening to rock up to a trial class and step into a studio with closed windows after a rigorously large class that just ended with seemingly no cleaning whatsoever in-between sessions. I personally really enjoy a clean, tidy environment and this studio seems to appreciate it too!
They offer multiple free self-led classes
It is the tiny details, but also the teacherās technique and experience (most of them have some sort of dancing/athletic background) which I also missed from other places. They are also very friendly and funny.
I do absolutely recommend looking around and finding what is best for you, but I did want to make a few points as I was looking for this when āshopping aroundā.
Updated review after 2 terms at PA: If you are still thinking if you should sign up, please do! I cannot tell how wonderful it is to see your body achieve things you didnāt know it could. I have self esteem issues and due to past trauma, I feel often disconnected from my body. I always felt like my body let me down in several aspects of my life. Seeing how it is able to learn what I put my mind to , how it does not demand a lot to help me achieve my goals is a true confidence booster. I have stepped on a self love journey and acceptance via pole that I was working in therapy for years for. I do think if you have past trauma or low self esteem or hate how you look, pole together with therapy helps a lot.
I also want to say kudos to Shea and Vittoria as I naturally gravitated towards them and they make me feel incredibly comfortable. I still struggle with anxiety, fears and mental block but they are always there to help and catch me (both metaphorically and even physically if needed).
Thanks, PA for becoming a safe space for me to learn and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI absolutely love this studio ā it's welcoming, professional, and full of great energy, and it has been that way since the very first time I came here a year ago. Iāve spent over 100 hours training here over the past year, and each time I walk out with a smile. Here are just a few of the reasons why: ⢠The studio is beautifully maintained and well-equipped. Itās also conveniently located and easy to reach. ⢠Thereās a wide range of classes available for all levels ā from beginners to advanced ā including pole fitness, combos, strength training, conditioning (like handstand conditioning), flexibility, practice sessions, and more. ⢠I love how the pole fitness classes are structured: with levels, assessments, and regular follow-ups. It really helps you track your progress and ensures that youāre learning the moves safely and correctly. ⢠Progress is closely monitored ā the team regularly checks in to see how you're doing with your skills and is always happy to answer any questions or concerns. The instructors are knowledgeable and incredibly supportive. They take the time to correct and encourage everyone, creating a safe and empowering learning environment. ⢠At the end of each term, they host a student showcase, which is such a lovely event ā and a great goal to work toward as you train. Iāve seen real progress in both my strength and confidence since I started here. Every class leaves me feeling stronger, more capable, and truly empowered. I started pole in France, but this studio has definitely become my favourite ā and I have a feeling it will stay that way for quite a while. Thank you again, Pole Athletica team, for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have always prided myself on my discipline when it comes to fitness, but after a complete change in personal circumstances (Moved from Adelaide to Sydney for work), I wanted to do something ādifferentā and challenge myself. I considered myself to be the most uncreative and inflexible person but after walking past Pole Athletica last December and saw the ācome and tryā notice, I knew straight away this was my new challenge. From the moment I met Shae and I took my first āspinā I knew I had made the right decision and was on the right path. I immediately felt part of a tribe that embraced inclusiveness and positivity. It brought back joy and laughter in my life (laughing at myself). I persisted and my slip slidey crucifex progressed to thigh hold pull ups and inversions. Thereās been some days I arrive at class with a sense of āIām not sure I can do thisā however at the conclusion of the class & with encouragement from the most amazing teachers, I walk out with confidence and a sense of pride and achievement and I canāt wait to get on the phone and tell my husband all about it. If you are considering yet hesitating coming to Pole Athletica and you havenāt stepped through the front door, be bold and go for it. You...
