I called in Monday to get a nice fresh joint of beef to roast. They instructed me that the cut I wanted to was going to be too dry and collected me another packaged cut of New York steak. Now Christmas day, (nowhere else open) I opened the packaging and was met with quite a strong smell. I shrugged it off and carried on to roast it. As I always do I cut off a slice when ready to ensure it tastes good. Within two movements of my mouth I was met with the most foul taste in my mouth. Rancid meat. We had also bought chicken at the same time which was fine. Unfortunately we have none of it left for Christmas roast. My wife is pregnant so that could have ended very badly. update following online complaint they did respond and apologise for not responding to 7 calls across 2 shops. And the meat is at the store. That's a good enough result.

I don't know what their meat is like, never got there. I just tried to call their store multiple times and then head office multiple times, no answer. Needed a speciality meat on a medical request that says available online but not clear if in that particular store. Who wants to drive 30 mins to be disappointed. I had been going to this butcher for many many years. I moved away from the area for a few years and had to buy from supermarket's (I don't advise if you want quality) Without knowing my son started buying from this butcher (the original people had also gone) When my husband told me I got excited, remembering just how great, fresh and flavorful their meats are. so as of a few months now it's back to buying from one butcher and gratefully so.
