Pizza. The Italians? Theyāve got this thing down to a damn scienceāscratch that, art. A university-level discipline of dough, sauce, and attitude. Some spend a lifetime perfecting that holy trinity. So when I saw the rave reviews for āI Love Pizza,ā I figured maybe, just maybe, these folks had studied under some ancient Neapolitan master who only communicates in flour and fire.
I ordered the classic pepperoni. It arrived fastāsuspiciously fast, like it had been waiting for someone to make the mistake of ordering it.
Now, I could end the review there. I should. But letās talk about what I actually got.
A pizza that tasted like ambition gave up halfway through. A warm, uninspired slab of doughboard with red stuff on it. The pepperoni? No heat, no soul, no nothing. Like it had been made by someone who once heard about spice in a podcast but decided against it for safety reasons.
No crunch, no char, no reason to take a second biteāexcept that Iām stubborn. The kind of pizza that makes you question your life choices, or at least your delivery apps.
So yeah, the hunt continuesāfor a real pizza on the lower north shore. One with bite, one with fire. One that reminds me why we fall in love with food in the first place. This? This wasnāt love. This was a sad Tinder date...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOk, so I might have to admit a slight pizza addiction after these guys opened up. My pizza consumption increased 2 fold! Let me start by saying that on Penshurst Street, there is about 7 pizza places, everything from chains to independent woodfire places, and , being the self proclaimed pizza connoisseur I am, I LOVE PIZZA is the best! What I like about the menu is the choice of 'fancy' pizza toppings such a Fig or Beef Stroganoff, as well as classic Hawaiian etc. They also have good Vegetarian variety and also offer Vegan options. The starter pizzas are also amazing - I struggle to choose between herb and garlic and the olive one.
There was a time in the past you could tell which crew was on because the 'generousness' of toppings would change, or the pizza may be slightly overcooked. This has since been rectified and we find the toppings to be quite substantial and fresh every time. While the small (2 table and window) eat in area has been closed since Covid 19, they offer take away and are on a few delivery service platforms. They have regular specials and for the bargain hunters, have a token program to redeem for free pizza! Deserts are limited but delicious. Highly recommend this pizza place, definitely a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe recently had the opportunity to order takeaway from this pizza shop, and it was an absolute delight. On a night when the idea of dressing up and going out seemed too much, this place was a savior. The ordering process was impressively smooth. Opting to phone in our order instead of going online allowed us to customize our pizza with additional ingredients, including a personal favorite, pineapple.
The pizza itself was a culinary masterpiece. Fancy pizza restaurants, that charge way too much for pizza and then skip on ingredients, take notes.
I wholeheartedly recommend this pizza shop to anyone seeking an exceptional pizza experience. Definitely recommend, I would order again from this place the next time Iām...
