I had a pleasant experience here, but it could’ve been even better. The interior is unique and you keep discovering fun details whilst looking around. The staff was friendly and took our order quickly. No remarks about that! The food itself was mediocre. I’ve tried the moussaka before and I really enjoyed that dish. This time around I tried the vegetarian stew. I didn’t like it at all. The vegetarian meat was tasty, but the sauce was way too sweet for my liking. It tastes a lot like cinnamon. I also tried the regular stew and I loved the taste of that stew. I do have to commend the restaurant on their array of (vegetarian) dishes. It’s nice to see a restaurant be this inclusive. They also offer kangaroo steak, which is something you can’t easily find in other restaurants in Ghent. This place isn’t expensive, but it isn’t cheap either. The price-quality relationship is good tho’. This place is ideal for a fun night of eating out with friends!

Recently visited Mosquito Coast in Ghent and had a wonderful experience. The service was top-notch with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel welcome. The ambience was warm and inviting, enriched by travel-themed decor that added a unique touch to the atmosphere. The venue was spotless, including the restrooms, which is always a positive sign. We were pleased to find it dog-friendly, with a bowl of water already set out for our pooch. A word of advice: it's best to book in advance. They may turn you away even if the venue appears to have empty tables. The menu offered a nice variety of unusual dishes, all well-prepared, along with a list of specials for the day. The selection of wine, beer, and soft drinks was impressive. The inside offers multiple seating areas, from a casual bar lounge to a charming roof terrace, accommodating different preferences. Overall, a great spot worth visiting. Highly recommended!

It's been a few years since I had the Mac Marrekesh lamb burger here, but I went back the other day to have a latte and admire all the artwork. I know it’s trite and possibly even exaggerated to say the burger there was the best I ever had, but it certainly seems that way, even to this day. The two owners of the cafe had traveled the world before opening up the restaurant back in 2006, offering some of their favorite meals from their journeys. The Mosquito Coast is one of the more high-end restaurants in Ghent, and their meals aren’t cheap. I wish I could have tried the Mac Marrakesh again to see if it was as good as I remembered.

Wow! Amazing cosy place to have dinner here. We had to wait like 15 mins to get a table but we already started to have a drink in the seating area. Friendly people and great food. I had one of the suggestions on the board: South African Boboté: awesome comfort food and more than enough on the plate. My foodiepartner had a fried goat cheese salad which was also very delicious and suprising on the salad dressing, very interesting! We were seated upstairs and had a nice view on the rest of the restaurant. The prices are more than reasonable. Happy to have found this place, to me it's listed as favourite!

The place is very nice but unfortunately we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for the main course and then we just canceled the order. If we could cancel that meant they didn’t even start. We should have been told the amount of waiting time from the beginning. Only after a full hour of waiting the waitress told us it’s gonna take more time. Good thing we ordered some tapas which by the way are very good. Also, the dessert was good. In conclusion, I would recommend the place because it’s very nice but expect long waiting time or ask the waiter how much will take.

We sat there at 5:30pm, knowing the kitchen would open at 6pm. Almost everyone who came in later got asked and served before us. Although the staff were friendly, we had to wait for a bit. We had among which two Kangaroo steaks. The menu said it will only be served rare - which is perfectly fine - but mine was served medium, while the other was served rare. Perhaps they have forgotten to prepare one and put it under the heater for too long? It made the dish, including pepper cream sauce, a bit bland and caused it to lack the peppery taste.
