I took my son and five of his friends to Trapped Escape Room for his 13th birthday. As expected, the kids were full of energy and excited to have fun. My husband went into the room with them to help keep things in order. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start.
The staff member overseeing the room seemed unhappy right away. He had a thick accent, and the kids politely asked him to repeat himself a few times when they didn’t understand, but he quickly became annoyed. While the group was a bit loud (as kids celebrating a birthday usually are), they were simply trying to have a good time. Shockingly, at one point, he told the group, “You people are stupid.” Completely unacceptable.
Nothing was damaged, and the kids followed the rules, but at the end, when they were supposed to receive a prize, we overheard him whispering to his assistant not to give it to them. It felt incredibly unprofessional and unfair.
We were all very disappointed and won’t be returning. A birthday celebration should feel fun and welcoming—this was the opposite.
Updated after their answer: Thanks for reaching out. As the parent of the birthday boy, I just wanted to share a bit of our experience.
The kids were definitely loud at times, but they weren’t being disrespectful or misbehaving—they were simply excited and having fun. From what I saw, they were trying to be friendly and even initiated fist bumps with the staff as a way to connect.
That said, several of the kids came to me quite upset, saying they heard one of the staff members call them “you stupid people.” I believe them, especially since more than one child brought it up independently. That was really disappointing to hear, especially at what was meant to be a joyful celebration.
I understand things can be busy or overwhelming in certain environments, but I was hoping for a more positive and welcoming experience for the kids. I just wanted to be honest and share what happened from our side.
Thanks for taking the...
Read moreOverall a very nice place, the owner takes great pride in their establishment and it shows.
I have played many virtual, VR, in person escape rooms, and even have tried an "escape room" where it was held in the entirety of a pioneer village's tiny little town. So I feel like I have a good grasp on production value, puzzle difficulty ratings and overall achievement of theme aesthetic.
Now we only played one room here, which was the "Beneath the Sphinx" room. So I do not feel qualities to testify on the entire establishments room quality.
But for the room we did, I find that it was of medium, leaning more towards easy, difficulty. It is a minimum 4 person room, we had a group of 5 but it could have been easily done with 4 people. As one of our members, had never played an in person escape room before, and another had very little experience in escape rooms.
The owner rightly prides themselves in their puzzles being more than just simple key and lock puzzles. Now I don't mind such puzzles once in a while, but not for an entire escape room. This room had zero locks where you had to find or use traditional keys in order to unlock another clue/ room/ prop/ etc.
It isn't the peak of production value, but it's a fairly good 7/10. You can tell that a lot of thought and effort went into things. With some more atmospheric tweaks, better sound proofing between different escape rooms (as at times we hear other groups, in different escape rooms' puzzles go "thud", which made us think we completed a puzzle when in fact we had not), and more detailed props, it could be pushed up to an 8/10 for me.
I would definitely go here again. And I would recommend this room for people newly into escape rooms, as it is quite well done but not too complicated. Overall a quite good medium escape room experience for...
Read moreA Fantastic First Escape Room Experience at Trapped Burlington!
We had our very first escape room experience at Trapped Burlington, and it was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the sleek and immersive atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, patiently explaining the rules and setting the stage for an exciting adventure.
The escape room itself was nothing short of brilliant! The attention to detail in the design, the state-of-the-art technology, and the intricately crafted puzzles made it a truly immersive experience. Every element felt well thought out, keeping us engaged and constantly on our toes. The challenges tested our problem-solving skills and teamwork, making it an exciting and mentally stimulating activity.
We asked for multiple clues and still didn’t make it out in time! But that didn’t take away from the fun at all. In fact, it made us even more determined to come back and try again. The puzzles were cleverly designed, pushing us to think outside the box while still being fair and solvable. The mix of logic, observation, and teamwork made it an adrenaline-pumping experience from start to finish.
Even though we failed miserably (and laughed at our own attempts), the entire experience was an absolute blast. We left feeling accomplished, entertained, and eager to try another room. If you're looking for a fun, challenging, and unique group activity, Trapped Burlington is the place to go!
We will definitely be back to try more rooms, and this time, we’ll aim for victory! Highly recommend it to both beginners and escape room enthusiasts. Thank you, Trapped Burlington, for an unforgettable...
