The Grand River is a very winding, scenic waterway that runs through the small town of Caledonia,a place that I lived as a teenager. The floods in Spring were so bad that people would have their homes destroyed and even washed away. It was very devastating for many families every year. Caledonia eventually put in a large dam to control the problem when I was in High School. At the same time they put in a large amazing addition to the park and banks of the river to make it more beautiful and accessible to the families of the community for entertainment like picnics, hiking, fishing, canoeing, walking your pets, boating, and even bird watching. Over the years the small town has continued to expand on their treasured Grand River banks by adding paved bicycle paths which are also used for skate boarding, roller blading, walkways, baby strollers and children’s riding and push toys. Flower gardens with benches were also put all along both sides of the beautiful river. The old park was renewed with a really lovely large park gazebo, swimming pool, wading pool, splash pads, tennis courts, picnic grounds, baseball diamonds (3), and even a French fry stand made from a large red Caboose. Even the Old Mill was totally re-built in all her glory for the towns seasonal lighting shows. It has taken many years of hard work by the entire community to create such an amazing, safe and quality family friendly Grand River entertainment centre. It is obvious that many thousands of dollars were spent and thousands of man-hours were worked to create and fulfill such an amazing job on the entire Caledonia River area. Congratulations. You have all done an EXCELLENT job. She is just beautifuI and a work of perfection. I wanted to Personally THANK YOU ALL just because I LOVE her too. She is The Great Grand River...

Being lost due to a tremendous amount of road construction and corresponding detours, it was an excessively exhaustive day.
The highlight was the Grand River in all its incarnations throughout the afternoon. Its beauty is unfathomable. This route is impossible to retrace, however, at a suitable point in time, a return to its grandeur will be...
