I avoided coming to H-Mart for its grand opening. Upon entering the store, you are greeted with a spacious interior. The space between aisles is generous, and the store itself is very clean and organized. I saw your regular produce like blueberries and strawberries, and more "exotic" ones like rambutan.
You will find an enormous range of ready made food. There's dumplings, pancakes, rice, noodles, stews. There are plenty of other products that you can find from Malaysia, Philippines, and elsewhere. Definitely for the south of Edmonton, this place will fill in the gap. T&T is still nice, but it was always small, and that limited what it could carry.
I'll point out that the food court area also features plenty of dishes and baked goods in addition to the ready made area. But you may want to consider making your order and doing a little bit of shopping. These food court shops make your food upon order, so the wait times will be longer than your typical fast food.
Of remarkable note is the BBQ Chicken store here in the food court area. This is a global scale chain that walks alongside Giants like McDonalds. Fair to say they will probably crush your appreciation of fried chicken permanently to a new level. Be sure to order first and then do some shopping.
ALLERGY WARNING. I'll point out that you should advise at all times what your allergies are at the ready made and food court areas. Absolutely do not take that for granted. Staff are nice and will sort you...
Read moreMy family and I come here pretty frequently for groceries and such. The prices are okay and the place is indeed very clean, however I feel compelled to leave a critical review because of the rudeness and unprofessionalism of some of the employees.
The last few times I've went there, there are always a few individuals who are literally running throughout the supermarket (mostly in the produce aisles), almost hitting shoppers and narrowly squeezing their way through openings, as opposed to waiting patiently for a clear path or walking slowly and carefully. I've had an impatient employee literally DOG behind my mother, inches from her back, as he darted to the left and right to try to get past her (she was looking at an item). I've also had several run-ins of my own where employees cut right in front of me as I was walking forward. And I've noticed that these employees glare at people that get in their way. It's borderline unprofessional and poor customer service.
Especially with COVID running rampant, I don't understand why these employees wouldn't respect social distancing guidelines and just wait a couple of seconds longer to get to their destination, instead of always impatiently and aggressively rushing around, disregarding shoppers in their paths. I get that it's a very busy environment, but it's frustrating to see and makes going to H-Mart a pretty unpleasant experience as I'm always worried that some reckless employee will barrel into me or my...
   Read moreThis all happened today.
I didnât have anything against shopping at this location until it got ruined by an employee calling the security guard on my special needs brother who has autism. I should have gotten the name but my family wanted to get out of there ASAP. I do remember the male employee was on the shorter side with a bowl cut type-ish hair. I was around the area where the bakery was with my brother and these 2 approached quite hostile. Mind you my brother, with him being autistic, he has no spacial awareness and I do understand it can seem rude to others. But let me emphasize again. HE IS A SPECIAL NEEDS INDIVIDUAL. Itâs unacceptable when being approached like that regardless of you have a condition or not. Thankfully my dad came on time and immediately understood what it was about since this type of experience was not our first rodeo. When the employee asked if my brother was his son, my dad said yes and said âAhhh okokâ and walked away while the security guard kept following us until we left.
^THIS is unprofessional behaviour. At LEAST an apology for the inconvenience would have been acceptable but NOPE.
I donât want to take any serious actions, BUT please retrain your staff in terms of how to deal when situations like this arises.
I hope individual who have any type of disability donât get mistreated, especially those who have behavioural disabilities...
