I came by K&K Specialty Food Mart on Whyte Avenue because someone recommended it—more out of nostalgia, I suspect. Yes, they have specialty sausages and cheeses, but so do many other popular markets in the city. There is that lovely old school deli smell when you walk in—very inviting. But I was hoping for more of a quick meal to go, I had to be directed to a few pre-made sandwiches and a potato salad tucked away in the back fridges. Prices were reasonable (under $10), sandwich fresh and the potato salad was heavy and dense. I wouldn’t return for a snack likely again, but I might come back if I’m ever after something special from the butcher. Nothing’s wrong with this place—it’s clearly a proper specialty shop—but it’s not quite what I was looking for this time.

Today I was in this store for the first time. We were going to visit someone and I decided to buy European sweets for tea. At the same time I saw semolina with -50% discount on the shelf with discounted goods. Cherries in chocolate cost $8.19 for 190 grams, 260 gram wafer cake was with 30% discount - was on the regular shelf. What do we have as a result: the expiration date of semolina in January 2025, wafer cake - in May 2025, and candies - May 2024? Now it's June 2025. Unfortunately I saw this information at home. These goods should be thrown out, not sold.

Great selection of German food. The Deli section is like heaven! Fleischsalat! Griebenspeck! The Butcher is making his own sausage... so we will go back tomorrow morning for fresh Zungenwurst. Parking is easy in front of the store and they have always great deals on some German sweets. Starting in October they are selling great German Christmas decorations. A place to go if you are German with a tiny amount of home sickness. This place will cure it.

God I love this place.

The service is always fast, friendly and knowledgeable. If you like Euro foods then this is where you want to shop.

Where to start? Sausage and meats. To die for. Fresh, tasty, great selection. Sliced to your liking, wrapped in paper as it should be. Pricey but wonderful none the less.

A great selection of candy and licorice. Salted licorice is a weakness of mine. I'd throw myself in front of a truck to get some.

Pretty well all the foods I grew up with can be purchased here. Christmas brings tons of chocolates and marzipan as well.

What I like most about shopping here is just taking a moment to listen to the conversations happening in the store. Regular customers greeting and interacting with each other. Long time staff doing the same. It feels like home.

You should stop by for a...

I have been a customer since both Krause brothers were around, and often in stores, before the location on 76th Ave was closed. It was the best ethnic German and European delicatessen in Edmonton. Over time, things changed - competition opened their stores, and K&K seem to stay behind a bit. I still shop there for my favourite coffee and cold cuts, but go to competitors for meat, cheese, bread, and variety of sweets. K&K does not seem to care for competition, and many items are overpriced, ending up expired and offered marked down. The comments from the concerned and loyal customers are brushed off. Yes, the store is great for special orders; the staff is always friendly and helpful, but K&K is not the best delicatessen in...
