We came here for the first time last week for a birthday breakfast/brunch and was not disappointed! We were the first ones in so we were a little worried at first because it looked a little bare and a wee bit dingy and there were more than a few flies around. But we decided we would give it a go and we are certainly lucky we did because the food was excellent! The staff were friendly and helpful and aided us in deciding what to order as we are not very familiar with Filipino cuisine. But we do like our chicken! My husband had a large bowl of soup that looked a little bit like war wonton soup, and he said some of the best soups ever had. He is an excellent cook, practically a chef, so that is high price indeed! And so plentiful and generous a portion that he was completely full after half a bowl, and took the rest of the bowl home. He had it the next day and said it was even better if that was possible! I had the dish with the rice patty and two deep fried garlic chicken. It was truly delicious. My daughter had the rice patty and chicken leg that is quite popular here, sorry I can't remember the name, and she said it was delicious as well. In fact, the chicken leg was a little small so they gave her two without even her having to ask! All of this along with some green tea for the four of us and it still came to under $70 WITH the tip! Very good value for your money, excellent food, and if you can get past the few flies that haunt most restaurants in the summer around here you'll do fine. Highly recommend this little restaurant on Whyte Avenue, and we all agreed that we are most...

Avoid This Place at All Costs!
If I could give this dump zero stars, I would. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Let’s break it down: Food – Absolutely disgusting. Tasted like it was microwaved leftovers from last week. Bland, cold, and borderline inedible. I wouldn’t feed this garbage to a stray dog. Service – Pathetic. The staff looked like they hated their jobs (understandable, given the place), but that’s not my problem. Slow, rude, and completely uninterested in actually serving customers. I had to flag someone down just to get water, and even then, they acted like I was inconveniencing them. Cleanliness – Filthy. The floors were sticky, the tables had leftover crumbs and grease stains, and don’t even get me started on the bathroom—it smelled like a sewer and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. If the front of the house is this nasty, I don’t even want to imagine what the kitchen looks like. Overall Experience – A complete joke. I paid good money for what felt like a punishment. Whoever owns this place should be ashamed.

Read moreWas in the area and finally able to eat out here and was treated with an experience. First of all, Ate Ems is such a gem! It was a little busy so we understand there’s a wait but she made sure she talks to us and checks us if we need anything else, we ordered family of 4 meal, that was a lot for us to be honest! I’ll say it, food was amazing! It brought back memories of eating out in carinderias in the Philippines during college days, that bbq and liempo is bomb! Im not a big fan of inasal but wife and sis in law loved it! Ordered the sisig as well and id say its more pinas touch to it! We tried to order the taho and this is when Ate Ems made me appreciate their honesty as the taho does not taste good anymore and told us they wont serve that one anymore. Honesty upfront is key, ive seen other restos selling older products to make quick buck and Ate Ems refused to do that. At the end of it all, she didnt want us to tip, but I wanted to and she just said to come back again. And that we will, she earned a suki with us for sure, will try the other items in the menu soon! Thank you Ate Ems for treating us nice, never got to take photos because the food is too damn good and was gone quickly! Will update for more photos next...
