Yesterday after a long flight, I was instransit at YYZ airport. I was tired, hungry and looking for some comfort food. I came across this Bento Sushi. This is first time ever that I order bento at this chain store.
After paying $18.99+Tax=$20.33 for Chicken Bento Box. Not only the price was expensive, I was so disappointed at the horrible quality of the food.
The chicken was not grilled and has no taste. The sauce was bland. The rice underneath the chicken was mushy! It was almost like congee to me!
The cucumber in the California Roll was frozen! The sushi rice was hard and cold!
Move on the the geoza, my last hope that how wrongly can this be. To my surprise, it was bad! The skin was overly done, mushy as well. I am not sure if the geoza was steam/boiled for too long? Or was it reheated after being cooked so the texture and the taste was all gone.
Now the veggie, at least it was fresh, but no taste.
I was rush to catch another flight. I have no time to let the staff know how horrible the food was.
For a tired hugry traveller longing for some comfort food. And hoping a chain store would at least offer some quality food. I was so disappointed and upset that it was not standing up for it's brand.
I know it's hard to run a business at the airport. I know pandemic effects all business. I know the price at the airport is more expensive than everywhere else. I wasn't expecting something delish at the airport. But the taste and the quality was horrible like this one was UNACCEPTABLE!

Read moreI wanted to eat hot soup and found this place. The price was higher than any other Bento but it is in the airport. I understand. Only 1 customer when I get there. I ordered 1 Ramen and 1 udon. The foods are served in paper bowls. It makes foods look cheaper. The problem I found was that the receipt had a miso charged 5.99, which I didn't ordered and it wasn't served.
I claimed it and a lady asked me to buy something instead of refunding it. It made me angry. She called her manager and she tried to refund me but it was 5.49 instead of 5.99. She might think 5.49 plus tax is over 5.99, but It is not correct. l. It should be 5.99 plus tax. I asked them to correct it, and she tried to give me some coins-quaters and dimes. I didn't take it. It was not about the money. They said the pos system is weird and made it wrong. I ordered my order again, and it worked properly this time. It is not a Pos error. It is a human error or a fraud. A customer in the airport will go somewhere and may not check their receipt, and Bento will make some extra money.
I'm very disappointed.
If someone made a mistake(it could happen), a customer may want to fix it properly with a proper way of apology. That is all.

Read moreAirport prices and worse than average fast food offerings. The "Grilled" Chicken Donburi Bowl came with chicken pieces that come out of a slurry liquid from one of the pots on the counter. It tastes like canned chicken. They also overcharged us and then still gave us the wrong change when we mentioned the overage. Conveniently both receipt printers were out of service. Also, the air conditioner leaks over the counter. Avoid if you can as there are better options.
UPDATE: The Bento Sushi head office reached out and stated they would look into my concerns above. The next time I'm in Pearson I will see if changes...
