I hosted my husbands 34th birthday this past long weekend and unfortunetly, for a Mississauga staple bowling location that we have attended since we were kids ourselves, bringing our children for the first time and our extended family members there for a family event was a complete disaster.
I came earlier in the day to drop off a cake but was told by a staff member they couldnt hold onto it and to bring it instead when the party started- no problem. During this interaction, I was told that NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS were allowed other than the cake. This was not a problem for me either.
The problem began when I tried to get drinks from the onsite food/bar station for my party of 12 guests and was told there were NO DRINKS available because of the current renovation and was told to buy each of my guests a drink from the vending machine which ranged from $3.50-$5 a bottle. That didnt bother me until I asked for a couple pitchers of water instead as an alternative and was told that they didnt even have TAP WATER to serve my guests of 6 adults and 6 children as young as 3 years old. Not only was there NO INFORMATION posted on the website, but this information was not communicated to me when I arrived earlier on in the day and was told by the manager that it is not necessary for them to inform me about not having access to public drinking water even after paying over $200 for bowling and $100 in food.
The manager told me there was NOTHING that could be done and for an establishment that was clearly selling alcohol, still hosting large parties, and encouraging families to bring their children as they had a promotion that children were free before 6pm. At the bare minimum, access to FREE TAP WATER should be available to guests even during a rennovation and if not, this should be communicated to guests PRIOR to host an event so they could provide water to their guests, especially people who are drinking alcohol.
He even told me that he didnt need to inform "every little detail" to guests...we are talking about water where people are bowling for 2+ hours....
Between my negative interactions with the onsite manager and staff and walking to the grocery store within the plaza during the 2 hour event to buy water and 2L Pop, I wasted 30-45mins of bowling time with my family so I could simply quench the thirst of my family and children at a reasonable cost.
Do not tell me outside drinks are not allowed if you cant even provide me TAP water to drink. And this location has 60 lanes up to 6 ppl per lane. Thats 360 people without access to water.
This experience was a combination of Poor communication, poor taste, and unethical business practice for an establishment to be doing in 2024 in Canada which resulted in a tainted...
Read moreI went to classic bowl with a large group. The group pre ordered food however I have a sever allergy to many various products. I knew that the food they were offering wouldn’t be suitable for me to eat so I made arrangements to bring my own food to prevent any possible contamination. Seeing as I had already paid for food that I wouldn’t be eating I thought that this would be okay. The manager saw that I had brought outside food into the establishment and then proceeded to yell at me for having done so. After I explained my situation to him he told me quote it wasn’t okay because other people could see that outside food had been brought in. Whilst I understand that outside food is prohibited on the premises accommodations could not and were not made for me. Therefore due to my allergy I could not eat the food that I had pre paid for and instead brought my own. Furthermore the group I was with all bought (overpriced) snacks from the establishment, in addition to the food that was pre order even . Due to those reasons I’m not sure why my actions were met with hostility and callousness. The manager completely overacted and was insensitive to my allergies. Will not...
Read moreI had a horrible experience at classic bowl today. My friends and I came here to celebrate my friend’s birthday at 6:30 pm and when we arrived we were told that we wouldn’t be able to get lanes until 8:30 due to bowling leagues. Despite having come here 2 days prior to make sure there would be lanes for us, there was no mention of leagues to us when we came in earlier to reserve a spot. They told us that no reservations could be made during the March break and that we would have to reserve when we arrived. Once we arrived, they told us we couldn’t even put our names down to wait and that we needed to wait to be able to put our names down. Most of us are hijabi women and after speaking with a few others who had a larger group than us as we’re not visibly muslim, were bowling, we realized that they had gotten reservations before us despite arriving here an hour and a half after us. We tried speaking to the staff and the so called “manager” but started yelling at us saying things like “this is my bowling alley I can do whatever I want” repeatedly despite us being visible minors, and not giving us the chance to speak back. This is my first time here and...
