I placed an order on UberEats yesterday during a buy one get one free promotion for biryani. I was looking forward to having the Karachi style biryani, which looked great in the photo. Unfortunately my experience was horrible.
I had my order picked up by a friend at around 4:30 PM, but didn’t open it to eat it until much later at night. We discovered there was only one small boney piece of chicken in one of the containers and rice. I then opened the other container to check and it had two pieces of chicken: one of the same small boney piece, and one drumstick piece. I was astonished at the inconsistency and figured there was definitely something wrong with my order because both boxes should have the same amount of chicken, and I assumed that a minimum of 2 pieces would be standard.
I ended up calling them today to try and sort out the issue. I first asked, “how many pieces of chicken does an order of biryani contain?” The person on the phone mentioned two pieces. I then told her about my order and how it only contained one piece. She then took my name and put me on hold to check what had happened. She came back and told me that there’s no way I received just one piece, since it is common for them to sometimes even include 3 pieces if not 2, and 2 is definitely the bare minimum. She told me she spoke to the person who prepared my order and he mentioned that it had 2 pieces.
We went back and forth, with me trying to make her understand that I didn’t receive a proper order, and that either her staff is lying or she is. I asked her many times throughout the call if she would be willing to make it right, and each time she refused. She gave me a pathetic excuse that she could have done something for me had I called yesterday.
I told her I will be leaving a negative review and she was more than okay with that. I don’t ever want to leave a negative review, because I want to give the business a chance to make things right if they’ve made an honest mistake, but unfortunately Karahi Point Oakville left me no choice. I would have loved to support a Pakistani business, but instead I have to expose their scams.
Since I had bought a buy one get one free deal, I gave one box to my friends, the one with 2 pieces of chicken in it. I didn’t tell them anything more about my experience with Karahi point, but unsurprisingly, right after I had gotten off the phone with the lady I spoke to, I had a message from two of my friends in the group chat talking about how ‘awful’ the biryani was, and how it tasted ‘6 days old’. They then went on to talk about how other items they’ve tried from there have all been terrible.
We all agreed to never support this business and to share our experience with everyone we know. I hope scamming your customers...
Read moreI had such high hopes when I walked in looking at the interior, reminded me so much of Karachi and had that small glimpse of it. I bought my family in celebration and was so exceited to treat them.
Food was such a big let down, it was completely disappointing and just was "Ok" "Bas theek he hai, Kuch Maza hi Nahi hai". Food was missing the Karachi spirit, it was just a very mild, dull experience. We ordered Nihari, Chicken Karhai, Sheikh kebab, Behari Kebab and Garden Salad. Be warned, Garden Salad is not served in a salad form but the luttuce cucumber and tomatoes come separately plated, tomatoes are round cut. The only dish that stood out was the Behari kebabs, those were excecuted perfectly, moist not chewy and perfectly balanced in spices (not refering to spiceness, that was perfect). Every other dish was a let down including the portion size for the nihari, it was a small serving that's good for 2 ppl but it's taste was even bigger let down. Did not have the richness and heartiness of nihari and that deep flavor that comes from it cooking for a long time, also we received just 2 peices of meat. The chicken karhai, which is my favourite and I was super excited for, was the worst in terms of it chicken. I love my dark meat but there was no leg or thigh it was just neck pieces and the small spare parts, could've been a misunderstanding on my part but like come on. The masala too, the flavours weren't given time to develop so it just was bland. Sheikh kebab was wayyy too spicy to the point that I don't understand why they sprinkled mirch on top of it. We tried finishing it but it was just spicy that we left it alone. Now the Nana's were pretty decent, not super soft and fluffy but the garlic naan was so crispy that it just didn't carry the joy of a garlic naan. We also got a kids meal, honestly nephew loved it so it gets a "Amazing!"
Now why didn't we just tell of our complaints to thr server? Because not only did it take 40 minutes for our food to come out, we were all trying different things and everything just wasn't living up to it and we were pretty hungry to wait any longer.
Now onto the tiny details, our glasses and plates were dirty so we asked our server to switch them out which she was kind and professional to do so. We all loved her, she was very sweet and she was obviously the only server available and there were 4 other families she was serving.
so yeah, go for the aesthetic pictures girlypops but not...
Read moreLocated along Dundast St. W. in Oakville, Karahi Point is a very popular restaurant specializing in Pakistani cuisine. As you enter the foyer, there is a brief story on a large wall sign that outlines the origin of Karahi Points' philosophy followed and practiced by staff at each location. "Honesty" is the central message here. We were seated promptly upon arrival and advised to scan the QR code with our phones in order to read the menu. Personally, I find the use of electronic menus more of a hinderance in selecting food items quickly compared to the old fashioned tangible hardcopy menu. A complimentary onion salad was delivered to our table as we waited for the arrival of food items selected from the menu. The restaurant itself is very spacious and consists of good size booths and open table seating that can easily accommodate large parties. The overall ambience of the restaurant is essentially a carry-over from the previous Japanese fusion restaurant that was in this space previously. Aesthetic improvements which include brighter lighting throughout, lighter tones especially on wall finishes, and the use of chandeliers project a more modern feel with a slight mix of traditional Pakistani decor. Everything in the restaurant is well maintained and very clean throughout. The main course dishes we selected arrived hot and fresh out of the kitchen, and the wait was acceptable considering that there appeared to be a full house of guests that evening. The food was flavourful, possessed some spiciness but not a lot, and the meat dishes were tender and moist for the most part except the chicken tikka which we found to be a bit dry. Overall we found the food items to be quite good with respect to taste, texture, freshness, and portion size. Conversely, the price point for items such as the Barbeque Platter and Plain Rice were far too high compared to other establishments that serve a specialized meat platter with greater quantities. The plate of plain boiled basmati rice also struck us as being a bit overpriced for the amount received. On a final note, customer service was quite decent. Staff were found to be well mannered, courteous and helpful which really is key to the level of customer satisfaction achieved. Overall, Karahi Point in Oakville is a very decent restaurant that is sure to satisfy anyone looking to enjoy great...
