My recent experience at Bread & Salt was a terrible one. If there is a negative star I would give it -100 stars. This is the worse food experience of my life. I was in the Mississauga area and googled food around me. I found Bread & Salt and they seemed to have decent reviews. Big mistake going there!! I came in and ordered one tandoori wrap and a side of fries. I was told it would take 15 to 20 minutes, so I paid, and sat and waited. The restaurant was literally empty. There was one table seated, which had already been served food. When the waitress first went to the back and told the chef my order, I saw the chef peak out and make a disgusted face and he kept glaring at me. (I am a black person by the way). Someone came in after me, ordered takeout and waited 5 minutes to get their food. After 25 minutes (after the promised time which they said the food would be done), I got up to ask where my order was. The waitress went to the back and asked the chef if he made the wrap. He angrily responded no, and refused to make the wrap. There was more arguing between the two, and I saw he finally grabbed the fries to put them on (at this point 30 minutes waiting). Why did he wait so long to make my food, when he was clearly not busy, not making food, just putting up dishes and wiping things down. I believe due to my skin tone, the chef was prejudice and wanted me waiting a long time. I would have left a long time ago if I hadn’t paid already. I was about to ask for a refund when the waitress finally came from the kitchen (after hiding there the whole time) and gave me my order. After waiting so long, I was disappointed about the quality of the food. Soggy, oily fries that lacked crispiness and a soggy wrap that tasted more like curry than tandoori. At this rate, I’m sure the chef sabotaged the food, seeing as he did not want to make the food for me. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant at all, especially if you are a black person! Why come to this multi-cultural country just to be racist? Don’t be in business if you don’t want to serve people!! Waste of money and I got sick after, who knows what the hell...

Went to the restaurant at 11 pm and the receptionist tells us that they are about to close at 11:30 pm even though their Google profile shows 12 am closing time. Later on they tell us that they only do take out after 11 pm but no mention of that was made online. Anyways we let her know we won't be long and get seated. They even let another family in after us so I don't understand why it was a big deal for us. Food was a disappointment. Total bill came to around $75. $13 for honey garlic wings (filled with oil at the bottom and looked to be just boiled with honey garlic thrown on top), $11 for lamb chops (if you could call them that, 4 small pieces barely longer than the length of my phone in the picture). Initially the server told us there would be 6 pieces and then we got 4 and when asked why she mentioned because these were bigger pieces the chef gave 4. Server did went back, corrected what she said earlier, and gave us 2 extra pieces without us asking. $19 for the lamb shank (the only good dish), $24 for combo 6 (beef pieces were undercooked but at this point we were too tired to say anything). At the end we were told that the chef was also a trainee but that is no excuse for low balling on food quality or quantity especially when they are priced so much higher than competing Afghan restaurants.

Server was polite, decent and apologized for the issues and corrected her mistakes. However to deter a customer entering the restaurant by saying 'we are about to close' when there is an hour left and multiple families inside and another who is allowed after us, is not respectful. And then to say a certain food item is one quantity and then when served it is less than mentioned is also...

Absolutely terrible customer service. Was there yesterday with a friend and we had a terrible experience. The first waiter gave us food we didn't even order and accused us of ordering it. We explained that we did not mention anything about that food. So they took it back. He then walked out, I guess his shift was over. He didn't communicate that with the people in the back..Someone else took over, she had no clue about the menu or what she was doing because again she brought us the bill which had the food that we did not order. They were going to charge us for it...the food was absolutely horrible. The rice was cold as if it just came out if the fridge. The chicken tandoori kebab was crunchy so therefore it wasn't cooked all the way through. Our tea that we were told we could share between two people came in the tiniest "tea pot". It didn't even make two cups of tea but we were still charged the whole amount when really only one person could drink it for $7... what a rip off. We asked about why the food was cold and that we couldnt even finish it she went on to say her manager made it and she couldn't go back to tell him about it...we then asked to get a couple take out boxes so we could at least take the bread home so it wouldnt go to waste. She disappeared for 15 minutes We asked once more she then stomped over with attitude and handed over one take out box...at that point I didn't even pack up my food. We just left. Overall this was a very bad experience and it's sad to say this because we have been here many times in the past and the service wasn't this bad. Please don't go here people. Go to watan kabob, Bamiyan,...

If I could give lower than one star I would. Go to Bread & Salt if you want to experience discriminatory service, taste subpar, soggy food, and stand waiting in line for 30+ minutes for a simple wrap & fries while the store is practically empty––just for the sake of keeping you waiting and humiliated. One evening we were in the area and decided to try this restaurant. They had my sister waiting there for thirty minutes for a wrap. That restaurant was nearly empty, just had one table in it, so there was no reason for it to take so long. Someone came in much after my sister and got served before her. The cashier was hiding in the kitchen, because she was trying to get the chef to prepare the order, but he was yelling and refusing to prepare this very simple order. He kept glaring and giving dirty looks to my sister as if he immediately wanted to her out of the store, even though she already paid. It’s clear this restaurant does not want Black people shopping in their store. If I was there I would have demanded a refund, this was unacceptable, prejudiced service. They made my sister feel very uncomfortable. They literally only prepared the food at the very last minute. And to top it all off the food was TERRIBLE. Soggy, disgusting fries, and the tandoori wrap was too salty, acidic and tasted more like curry powder than tandoori. NEVER AGAIN! Avoid this place, especially if you are Black, as you will likely be mistreated like my sister was.

Was in the neighborhood furniture shopping with my mom, and she suggested that we try Bread & Salt. She is plant based, I have medical dietary restrictions, so eating out is often hit and miss. BUT.... color me IMPRESSED! DECOR= 5/5: Stunning, elegant, and perfectly balanced. - The integration of Afghan cultural elements is understated, but done so beautifully. - The seating is set up to accommodate any group size comfortably, while still providing privacy for your dining party. - The dishware is beautiful and unique. CLEANLINESS= 5/5: The place is spotless, well light, and well ventilated. - The open kitchen is behind beautiful glass walls, so you can see your meal prepped without being overwhelmed with kitchen smells. - Washrooms are spotless. FOOD= 4.5/5: Fresh, well made. - Side salads were fresh, would recommend serving them with dressing on the side to accommodate those who prefer lighter dressing. - Mom: veggie plate with dhaal, fries, side salad, and Mango smoothie She started humming and shimmiying in her seat after her first bite...need I say more? - Me: lamb wrap, fries, and Mango smoothie Perfectly balanced seasonings Lamb was tender, juicy, flavorful....just amazing Fries had OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 9/10 Service was AMAZING. Ezekiel was gracious, attentive, funny, and provided great service. Food was delicious. Would recommend to any and everyone looking for a top-tier authentic Afghan restaurant
