I'm so upset. This is the 3rd time I have been going to Blunt because each time I told myself "ok, maybe this time will be good". But this is going to be the last time you'll have me in your salon. First time I went for a hair dye, she did roots and gloss for the rest. I specifically said I did not want a red undertone with my browns, she said ok. Guess what? My hair was nearly red/orangy. 2nd appointment was for a hair extension consultation. The receptionist booked it for me, and didn't give me any fine print* details (you'll understand why this is important). The consultation last at most 6 minutes or so, only for her to tell me to go buy clip ons at some store downtown.... I paid $50 for that?! My boyfriend could've given me that advice for free. Heck, even my dad who knows nothing about hair. I asked the receptionist if I could use that $50 towards ANY next appointment and she gave me a big fat YES YOU CAN. :) Mind you, the hair stylist even said the fee would go towards our actual appointment (before she told me I should go buy clip ons).
3rd appointment TODAY - I get a hair care routine + cut and blow dry. Cool. By a different stylist btw*, and she was nice. I get to the cash, and I ask about my $50 ... I'm now being told new information, that I never heard before. Not only did this other receptionist tells me that I cannot use the $50 with a different stylist, but apparently the stylist who did my hair extensions consultation is a master stylist which means that the $50 couldve NEVER been transferred to another appointment, even with her?!?! Which... idk what the heck a master stylist means nor could I have known because I didn't book the appointment myself!!! SO YOU'RE TELLING ME I PAID $50 FOR HER TO TELL ME IN A 5 MINUTES - 5!!!!!! MINUTES CONSULTATION TO GO BUY CLIP ONS AT A STORE DOWNTOWN?!?! $50 for 5 minutes!!! There's absolutely no way she's worth $600 an hour. At that rate, no one would be working for someone else. So this makes absolutely no sense.
I'm so upset. I tricked myself thinking you were a good salon and that you deserved- not a 2nd, but a 3RD* chance.
I was hoping to have a nice experience on my birthday but honestly, this ruined my evening. I still ended up purchasing a product and pay the $12 bag fee (lol), which honestly, I wish I didn't. I really wish I bought the kerastase product elsewhere. Obviously, I'm sure you don't even offer...
Read moreThis salon is a big joke. Client care and self love is supposedly at the forefront of whatever this place tries to promote on social media platforms, but it’s the total opposite. I’ve been a certified stylist for over 7 years and I decided to visit one day because I had seen such great reviews but I was extremely shocked to find out how they charge 100$ PLUS tax for a blowout and a mediocre curl that doesn’t hold at all throughout the day. Furthermore, I experienced and heard some horrible racial jokes towards middle eastern women and how they shouldn’t ever consider a place like blunt if they are “idiots” to get their hair to a platinum blonde. Throughout my whole career, I’ve been catering to women of colour who cannot and will not receive a service of a decent price anywhere else unfortunately, and blunt has proven to be the epicentre of those places. Women of colour representation is zero to NONE on all social platforms, and white women are encouraged to be the target audience. The logic breaks when blunt tries to be respectful while clearly having a massive arrogant and ignorant view to what we are living and experiencing now. Respect comes when respect is shown to everyone else, and it’s sad to see how the team is mostly all white folks, catering to white folks. Deep when the black lives movement was happening, blunt and their team all stayed silent on all platforms once again, typical behaviour, and so clearly racist under the covers. I really do feel bad for anyone who supports this salon because they’re thrilled by all the aesthetically pleasing marketing, but that’s all surface level. To whoever this concerns, as a woman of colour it is very easy to spot racism, bigotry, and stereotyping of my people. All I have to say is shame. You poorly represent the beautiful variety of talented hair stylists in Montreal and between us, we really all know what you’re...
Read moreMy experience at Blunt was very disappointing. I had taken my appointment in advance to be sure to get Claude, a hairdresser my friends have been raving about. I booked my appointment on a Friday evening, although it was an inconvenient time for me, it was the only time Claude was available that given week. I was making a big change to my hair, cutting about 10 inches off. When I arrived for my appointment, Claude approached me to tell me there was a 'situation' and that she was about an hour behind with her client. She proposed I pass with her colleague, who was free to do my hair or wait an hour for her to do mine. Feeling pressured I accepted, and my experience went downhill from there. The service was cold, and by the time the other hairdresser finished drying my hair after my cut, she realized one side was shorter than the other... in addition, my hair was shorter than I had asked for. She began chopping away the longer side on dry hair, which left it exactly as you'd imagine, choppy. After I pointed it out, she re-wet my hair to continue cutting it. By the time she had finished, my hair was much shorter and choppier than I ever wanted, which is very frustrating since I was getting it cut for a grad picture which I'll likely have to reschedule.
To top things off - almost every single hairdresser, including Claude, spent the majority of their time texting/surfing the web etc. It blows my mind that not one of them had the decency to give me a call to inform me of the lateness. The best is that I still had to pay 100$ for my very dissatisfying cut.
I'm sure some hairdressers here are great, hence the amazing reviews. That being said, my experience was extremely frustrating and lacked...
