Happy to have found a place that sells paper packaged recycled paper toilet close to me :) I regularly stock up on locally grown and/or organic fruits and veggies and the bill isnt even high.. organic bananas by the good brands (not dole) , organic lemons and limes, avocados, sweet peppers, garlic and more Edit: the nuts may not be sourced from a good supplier because it’s the second time I bought them and they were rancid /stale/ moldy. The first time I didn’t have a chance to come back to return them and when I told them about it they kind of denied it was possible there could be an issue. So I used the peanuts as a hair mask. The second time I brought them in the same day (annoying to have to go back) and they refunded me but still questioned my judgement even though I said I had to spit them out. They say they just received them. So they threw out my container’s contents but I don’t know if they removed the rancid nuts from the dispenser (which they don’t let you taste test from before filling and they do all the filling..) I’m not going to buy my nuts here anymore and just wanted to warn others about how it can be to not give a skewed impression of the business. Although they are very kind and helpful they don’t take good enough accountability or treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves. Rancid and moldy nuts can be cancerous. I’ve experienced the same thing at another vrac store so it’s possibly just not common knowledge but should be. It’s dishonest and frustrating to act like it’s not a problem if that’s what you’re selling. I really want them to do well as a business because they’re close to me and the store is beautiful and the produce and other products have been really nice. I spoke to the owner and learned it’s a very difficult business and I empathize but it’s not an excuse for this to continue because it’s a bit dangerous and unfair to customers. Also they didn’t know this but I told them nuts that have gone bad can still be used for other things like hair masks as long as it’s not touching your roots. It’s still healthy for hair that’s already grown out . You just have to blend them with water and leave the liquid on the hair for 5-10 minutes and wash off , all with your head turned over. But I don’t know why she was so quick to throw them out in what seemed like a garbage bin, not even compost? I could be wrong but if not it shows they hardly give any thought to apply the concept of zero waste to their lives and choices, only use it for buy and sell business operations. It felt like she was trying to make me feel bad for wasting when she was the one wasting and...
Read moreWow my first review and I am very microagressed. I have been excited about going to this store partly because it’s close to home and convenient. And partly because once in while I will find some nice rare fruit or peppers. But today I realized they are not kind to customers. I think I was subconsciously clocking it - lack of curtesy and not very happy to see a paying customer. I was carrying what I wanted in my hands instead of a basket because you know Saturday morning not fully awake yet and I took stuff from the front of the store and kept the things at the cash and darted to the back of the store to pick up coriander. Probably took 45 seconds. I was told off rudely that there is a basket and the stuff needs to be in the basket????? Very pedantic like I am 10 years old, condescending and as if teaching me how to shop at a grocery store???
Say bye to the money I could afford to...
Read moreThey were nice and helpful and the store was very pretty and well organized but I have a few problems with the prices and the misleading claim of zero waste. It was 25$ to refill a 2L bottle of handsoap. You are not going to save the environment with those prices.... they should offer discounted products for people who are eco conscious, and want to reduce waste, but don't have the money to pay premium prices for products.
As well, they still sold cheese wrapped in plastic, and you couldn't even get milk in a refundable bottle like you can get at PA and other places. So "zero dechet" is a bit...
