-Place des festivals is an area of about a 2-4 block radius (its constantly expanding) -This area contains parks and buildings dedicated to the festivals, parts of the streets and sidewalks, a wide area that has water fountains with lights in the ground, benches, stairs, restaurants, and it's in between the entrances of the underground city and complexe Desjardins. -This area is a part of the city that is used to set up multiple stages, a ferris wheel, shipping containers repurposed into shops and stores, scaffolding etc. -The sidewalk and streets of the area have been renovated to beautiful beige and grey stones and bricks. -The space is constantly changing for every festival it hosts, art installation that is set up, activities and events -When there are no festivals the area is simply a wonderful area of the city, park, and art outdoor art exhibit -The halls have concerts and live shows year round -Theres a cinema that plays cult classics sometimes -There's at least 6 concert or show halls of reasonable size within the area (bonus: nirvana played at foufounes electric) There's probably a lot more than six, I don't go to shows very...

Read moreThis year's edition of Montreal en Luminerie is a little disappointing. The main free venue is smaller, due to the ever present construction that has hampered Montreal nowadays. There are activities to enjoy like the Ferris wheel, the ice slide (very fast!), and the zip line. Alcohol is readily available as well as some food kiosks. Atmosphere wise, it seems to be less energy compared to previous years. There are more indoor events like food gastronomy and arts shows/demos.
