A month ago I was in downtown Oakville with my daughter and I decided to show her the dress I loved at Second Chance to see what she thought. I was told item was NEW not USED so price reflected that( $95 plus tax) . As it was on the pricey side My daughter offered to pay half, we decided to buy it and left very happy. I wore it for a couple of hours that night and next day I decided I would slip in on again, but as I did I noticed there was stitching that was coming undone! As I looked closer I realized dress was altered on both sides below armpits. I called the store immediately, the owner or her daughter did not believe me! I explained over and over again and than told her I would bring it back as soon as I was able to and she could see it for herself.
Once in the store I showed owner and she was shocked, she explained she thought store they got it from had possibly stitched it up for a customer and forgot to take stitches out and she offered to alter it for me herself and have it ready for me in about a weeks time. I felt I had been over charged for item as it was at that point damaged and not wearable, but I loved the dress and didn't want to argue, so agreed and said I will come back when it was ready.
Over a week later I had not heard so I called and was told it was ready. When I got to the store I said hello and an employee retrieved it for me. I started to take bag and say âI will just try it On to make sure it was okâ. At that point I heard from the back from the owners daughter âYou know she is not a seamstress and if its not ok she is not going to fix it againâ. I said âExcuse me?â she said âWell she fixed it once for you and she is not going to do it again. so if your not happy you will have to take it elsewhereâ. I said asked âWhy are you yelling at me I did nothing wrong I just wanted to make sure its okâ. She said âwell if its not its not our fault she is not a seamstress âall of this in a super rude and aggressive tone. I said âI was talking to your motherâ The mother then proceeded to tell me âI took it in along the same line as it had been taken in so it will be OKâ. I was so upset to be treated this way I picked up bag and said âforget itâ and left. Once down street a bit and around corner I thought âOMG what just happened!â
I sat out side on a bench and Thought I just payed over $112 for a dress that was damaged and sold at that price because they said it was new! In my opinion altered makes that not new and I was made to feel like the guilty party and this is not right. I called store back and said I was just in your store and I didn't appreciate being treated like that at all. The daughter said âWell neither did my motherâ, I said âWhat did I do?â She said âYou didn't even thank her for doing the alteration for you and any other store would have charged you for alterations.â I was so shocked and upset that once off the phone I sat and cried and on drive home I thought, wow now I have a dress that cost me over $100 that will only upset me every time I put it on!
I have never in all my 53 years ever been treated with such disrespect! There was no excuse for that behavior and I am in shock by how rude and disrespectful the daughter was. I bought a lovely dress, or so I thought and looking back on it now I wish I had just asked for our money back as it was a lot of money for me. Not sure why the daughter thought it was a favor to me to alter it, there should have been no need to alter it in the first place. I also the one who also had take two hours over the two trips to and from home to get the dress I payed for, yet as you see in photos below its certainly not a very good job and will need for someone to fix it before itâs worn! Very...
Read moreI was disgusted with the greeting I received at your store Friday September 18th. I was asked to replace the mingle mask I was wearing by an employee who was outside. Before entering I replaced the mask requested. However as I entered the store the mask needed to be adjusted and as I was fixing it I was verbally abused by one of your employees who was extremely rude and condescending. She was giving us a lecture on by-laws. Interestingly we were in several stores and a restaurant in Oakville and were greeted cordially with no discrimination and the masks were considered suitable. I was with a friend who was equally offended and embarrassed and we both left immediately. I have been a fairly regular client and drive from Niagara on the Lake to your store. I have a collection of high end designer handbags (LV, Chanel, Dior etc) the purpose of my visit was to discuss consigning them with you. I am afraid I will take my...
Read moreWell, as much as I love to visit and shop the second hand stores I have to be honest about my recent experience with this place . The prices are really high, not really good sign for today's world. You don't have a lot to choose from and being an owner of place like that, be prepared to different clientele. Not only I felt like I was more than welcome to come in and browse through the items but like I did not belong in this kind of place A little...
