Been many times but never had such a horrible experience. We had a reservation at 7pm and waited at the door for 15 min for anyone to greet us. Rang the bell at the front, still no one came. Finally someone from upstairs said “yeah you can come up” . We were seated and ordered via our phones; and each persons meal came out 15-30 min after each other. So the first person finished their meal and the last person still didn’t get theirs. We asked multiple times and they would say “yeah okay 10 min” . We got one plate and was told it was stir fry beef but it was something completely different. We asked again because we weren’t sure whose food it was, then another server came and said it was something completely different. We were even more unsure and now were told we ate someone else’s food. She then had to double check with us our order because they didn’t know what we got and what we still needed. When we asked her for our original orders she said we can order it again but it’ll be another 30 min and we should pay for a whole new dish. Then made us feel horrible and said we should’ve shared the food that came out already. We were a group of 6 people who all ordered our own plates. And she told us we should just share, which doesn’t make any sense. She told us to look around and see how busy it is so she can’t bring all our food together because “they only have one stove” . She was extremely rude and condescending. We finally got all our food and even though the order was all mixed up and everything arrived at different times. We even got our drinks much after our food came and went. Horrible horrible service. Rude and disrespectful. No one came to check on us no one asked how we were doing . Sadly won’t be returning. The manager did nothing about it and did not ever come to apologize for her rude behaviour or the mistakes in our order . She simply told us “you can have 10% discount on this plate” . So 2$. We weren’t looking for a discount, but just some kinder and professional...
Read moreSome Uyghur clients of mine in Waterloo highly recommended this restaurant, so one Saturday evening we drove from Kitchener to try it out. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but although the dining room was pretty well completely full, they made an effort to squeeze in another little table for two for us. After having made an hour-long trip just to go there, this was something we greatly appreciated!
Our server recommended that we try some lamb kebabs and steamed dumplings, so we ordered those. We must confess that lamb is our least favourite meat, but the lamb on these kebabs was the tenderest and most flavourful we've ever had! We could have had a whole meal of just those kebabs and been more than satisfied! Very highly recommended!
The dumplings were also good, but not as good as those kebabs!
For our main dish, we ordered a large Zeera Lahman to share. This dish features the traditional Uyghur hand-pulled noodles with stir-fried lamb & beef, onions, red and green chilies, and cumin. The amount of meat in the dish far outweighs anything we've had in other Uyghur restaurants. There's a large amount of red chilies that give the dish some heat, but not too much, especially if you don't actually eat them and take them out like we did. It's a wonderfully tasty blend of savoury and spice, and it's addictive! Even when we determined that we'd had enough, we kept grabbing just one more noodle to twirl around our fork and eat. And it's more than enough for 2 people. We ended up taking half of it home to enjoy again later.
The prices are higher than we've experienced in other Uyghur restaurants, but you get what you pay for. Orda had more in terms of a nice atmosphere and in the quality and quantity of the food. The service was friendly and attentive.
If you're looking for good ethnic food and a great dining experience, Orda is the place to go! We will definitely be going back again. It's more than worth the 2-hour round trip...
Read moreWhen we came in I ordered the oxtail noodle and had to repeat myself a few times, I even pointed to it on the menu. The waitress did not write anything down but repeated "oxtail noodle?" And I confirmed.
when it came out, the man said "short rib noodle?" While carrying our dish. I said no, we ordered ox tail, and he looked confused for a second then said that "oh yes, this is oxtail" and set it down. Once we started eating it became obvious that it was actually short ribs, so we called the waitress again and pointed out a rib bone.
She then took the food back to the kitchen and came back with both the food and receipt stating that "short ribs is what they put down" . I repeated that I had ordered ox tail though and she refused to fix the order, stating that because they had put down short ribs on the order that's what we got. My husband asked as politely as he could if they could change it then, but she was like "no sir! Because that's what we put down" We ended up just paying and leaving after that. It's a shame because I thought the food was nice and wanted to come back another time. I'm not sure why they think I would even lie about that, as we had only taken a couple bites before we said it was the wrong order.
I feel like it's a minimum requirement for a restaurant to make what you order and serve that to you, but this place refused to do even that. Who wants to go to a restaurant that tries to force you to eat...
