After years of being a patron of your take-out food offerings, my visit to the shop today may be my last. The customer service I receive there is never “warm” but today was a new level I haven’t quite experienced before. While I was picking out my lunch for the day, the employee had come to the front and as she was waiting for me to make my selection, and proceeded to impatiently tap her long nails on the counter as if the say “hurry it up” or she had better things to do in the back. Not once, but twice. Although she has never greeted me in or out with a smile, at the very least I didn’t feel like my existence in the shop was a burden. I’ll note it took me all of 60 seconds to pick my food. This was also the first time I was ever offered a bag before having to ask myself. I wasn’t even given the total verbally as the employee set up the debit machine because asking how I was paying (cash). I’ll add that the food quality seems to be often hit/miss and overly salted. I miss the healthy nanaimo bars and they jumped in price. The take out food used to be packaged in a paper bottom and now everything is plastic. I’m disappointed to be so turned off from a local small business but I work and live in the neighbourhood, and if I leave feel like I’ve been an inconvenience for patronizing a business with hard earned money from my own local small business or get silence as a response to my “thanks so much” then what are we even doing with the standards of our customer service? I’m hoping it was a one-off and they were just having a bad day, but maybe taking the day off instead of taking it out on paying customers is the more sensible...
Read moreHorrible experience. We made a reservation for Easter brunch and prepaid but then I came down with Covid the day before. We called the owner, Julie the day before to let her know that I was sick and could not attend. She said that it didn't matter - that it was like buying a concert ticket with no refund. She went on to say that she was turning down people calling to reserve because they were sold out which means they could easily sell our spot to someone else especially since we let her know 24 hours in advance. She did not care at all that I might show up with Covid on Easter and possibly put elderly or immune compromised individuals at risk. All she cared about was not refunding the money....
