My friend and I decided to try out the Goat Tap & Eatery in Walkerville for dinner. The music was SO loud and there were hardly any people there so I asked the server to turn the music down. She did turn it down but it was hard to carry on a conversation so we had to wait to get caught up on our lives after we left the restaurant. My friend had the fish taco's and salad and they were delicious ! She also loved her Blueberry Mohito. I ordered a glass of wine and chicken wings. The wings were like rubber so I left there hungry as I could barely get the chicken off of the bone. I have been to The Goat in Lakeshore a couple of times and their wings were delicious and it felt homey like a neighbourhood restaurant to me but I did not feel this at the Walkerville Goat. I probably should have gone for wings on a Thursday when they have wings night. Most of the reviews are positive so perhaps we happened to be there on an off night ?
Thank you for your quick response Goat Tap & Eatery. Should I give your restaurant another try, I would probably order the fish taco's & salad as the reviews are positive and my friend enjoyed them too. I only post reviews so that the restaurant can improve on any issues. My comments are not to get a free meal or a discount but because you are in our neighbourhood, we need good restaurants and want you to succeed in every way. ...
Read moreWe stopped in for lunch to try it out. There was 2 customers at the bar, and one table on the other side. The sign said wait to be seated, so we waited. A few minutes went by and one of the patrons said we could sit and the waitress would be back shortly. Ten minutes went by and she finally came out of the back. She finally noticed us and brought menus. And more waiting while she chatted, disappeared into the back again, and waited again when she appeared and chatted at the bar. We tried getting her attention but finally had to go over and ask if we could order because we were on our lunch. Once we got our food, which was just ok, the gnocchi soup had no gnocchi in it. Again, tried to get her attention and when she finally noticed us she came over and got the soup and returned it to the kitchen. We were just about finished when she returned with the soup, apologizing and saying the cook didn't read what the soup was that day. Then it was more waiting and waving to get our bill. Still no other patrons, but one table came in when we finally got our bill. Worst service! She wasn't rude or anything, maybe just new at her job. Wouldn't go back to this location based on the poor service experience. Food was average,...
Read moreTried to go for an app and drink this evening and decided to give this place a go. I’ve never been to any of the locations and why not try the new one. Walked in place is nice. Was greeted promptly, and seated. Restaurant wasn’t super busy. One table of 2 and a table of 8-10 people. Sat, looked over the menu, figured out what we were going to have and then the waiting game began. And the waiting continues , without anyone else coming back to the table before we got up and left 20 minutes later. Pretty disappointed in the lack of service when I watched 2 servers chat at the end of the bar, and walk by to wipe tables on multiple occasions.
Not sure what happened, or why. But for a not so busy Sunday evening the poor service was a bit shocking. Even as we left neither of the waitresses standing at the bar seemed to take notice.
Atmosphere of the place was really nice. Well done, clean all that. But I can’t leave anything more than a 1 star for food and service because I didn’t get to try the food (which based on the menu , sounds good), and service is pretty obvious why I...
