I was impressed. The restaurant is open seven days a week. The staff was amazing. Not only did different staff ask how I was enjoying meal but the manager, Felicity, sat down to talk to me. I learned the potatoes for fries are freshly cut every day and bought from a farmer on the Mainland. Between 200 and 300 potatoes are cut every day. The peel is left on them. Pretty much every item that is breaded is done gluten free. There are three separate fries so the oil isn't cross contaminated. So if your diet is gluten free and you have craved breaded fish, etc., you're in luck at Fish on Fifth. There are also selections on the menu if you're vegan. You have a choice of having food fried or grilled. I had the haddock with my side being onion rings. The haddock was excellent. The rings were freshly breaded and fried. They had a great taste too. Thee is seating on the patio as well as lots of seating inside. I highly recommend giving Fish on Fifth a try.

This place is AMAZING! The chowder was thick and flavourful. I forgot to take a picture of the grilled fish and battered fish but they were absolutely perfect AND gluten free. Dole whip?! It tasted like Hawaii! Now about the poutine... my partner is doing a cleanse and that means he's gluten free/dairy free/sugar free... the poutine was all those things. I know and it was really good! The cheese is a cultured nut cheese and it was really nice and creamy. The staff were all so enthusiastic and Lovely! Especially Talia! She gets a special shout out because she was so helpful in showing my partner the ropes regarding what his food options were. The owner was helping everyone out. They have the same menu printed three times to make food restrictions that much easier! The black ink is regular diet, red ink for gluten free and green ink for vegan. They truly go above and beyond to not let any dietary specification feel alienated. Definitely will go back!

It was incredible food! I'm celiac and visited because of find me gluten free recommending it. There were gluten free options for quite a few things, including fish and chips and chicken strips! The haddock fish and and chips were really good and a good price. However, there was one staff member there who made the experience worse. He was very loud up front in the very small restaurant. He was yelling and being rude to his coworkers and complaining about his last job at Dairy Queen. He also brought ice cream to the table next to us (and had no idea how much they cost despite selling them literally two minutes before to other people), and he apologized for messing up one of their ice creams but rather than bringing a new one brought them two really messy ones and one decent looking one. But anyways the gluten free food was fantastic and the guy who was our waiter was super nice!

Read so many good reviews of this place I decided to stop by for a snack before catching the ferry. I rarely leave reviews but I felt that the restaurant needs to have a better system for take out orders. I wanted to order the onion rings but was told they didn't have any today. I was disappointed the only cutlery that was given was a fork for the soup. There was no tartar sauce for the fish and no sauce for the yam fries except ketchup. I wanted to add coleslaw as a side (i don't mind paying extra) but was told that it comes with the yam fries. Not sure if the waitress was confused that coleslaw only comes with fries only or the kitchen forgot the coleslaw... anyways i never got the coleslaw. Probably not coming back next time, this experience was quite underwhelming regardless of how good the food taste. Overall paid $30 for this takeout.

Vegan-friendly! The first time I went here I was tagging along with friends for lunch and expected to just have a beer--I was surprised to find out how many vegan options they offer. The staff is always super friendly and very informative about the menu items, including which beers they have that are vegan-friendly etc. On my most recent visit the server recommended a new item that hadn't yet been officially added to their menu: a vegan "Big Mac". After trying it I can only assume that it's created by some combination of ancient culinary knowledge, high-quality plant-based proteins and dark magic. I half-sobbed while I ate it (because it was so good). Vegan or not, this place is a winner--highly recommended.
