Absolutely atrocious behavior from staff, especially those in the fish and meat section. I went to the store on May 23, 2021 to buy some lobsters. I was first yelled at to go pay - the guy literally threw a dirty bag, dripping in fish water, at me. It had the sticker to make the payment with. Long story short, paid for 4 lobsters which i had asked to be sliced right down the middle (i even showed him how), only to be given 3 lobsters sqashed to bits and cut into the tinitest pieces , and 1 that was actually cut properly. It is also impossible to communicate with them. I was simply told "your fault" over and over again. How is this okay? Of course i wasn't offered a refund or have the lobsters replaced. The staff are rude, will not help, does not understand or pretends not to, will scoff at you for not understanding their Language, and will treat you, a paying customer, like trash. In addition, the store is beyond dirty - I cant help but wonder how they have passed inspection all these years. I am honestly questioning their permit to operate. This is probably the worst oriental supermarket I have ever been to. 100% will NOT be going back. There is a much cleaner store not even a block south. Cant wait for TnT to open back up in the downtown core. Word of advice: If you are going to be visiting this store, put bags around your shoes (there is dirty water EVERYWHERE!!) and if you are going to be spending money on seafood, just take it home and cut it yourself. Even if you butcher it, you can accept taking the blame.
Just dont go here. As a first gen immigrant, I find it insulting that in a multicultural country like Canada, you are treated so so poorly by fellow immigrants just because they wont put in the effort to learn the common language for communication. Why run an establishment if you are unable to effectively communicate with people? Its not just the spoken language either - its their body language, their overall demeanor, their behaviour that makes you feel like you're somehow undeserving...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were visitors from the UK. We went for shopping at the place around 5pm on 29/04/23.
The produce was fresh and reasonably priced, and our first purchase went smoothly. However, things took a sour turn when we tried to buy some strawberries and pay the second time. The cashier, who was a pretty Thai lady (by Asian standards), started shouting at us for telling her our card was a debit card. We used the same Revolut debit card we had used for the first transaction, but the machine wouldn't accept it, so we politely asked her to switch it to credit mode. That's when she started behaving like we had insulted her ancestors! She kept ranting and raving for a good five minutes, insisting that we were clueless about payment methods and that we should be ashamed of ourselves for not knowing the types of our Revolut card (even though we work in finance, ha!).
She tried to show that she understand all the cards in the world and how the cards are set up in other parts of the country by asking us to show the card. We showed her the Revolut card and she talked to herself that was a credit card and changed the setting to credit card to make the transactions got through. Once it got through, she kept shouting to the whole place like we were wrong the whole time and she was right. Revolut card is a debit card and we should know better as we are working in the financial sector for 20 years! She knows nothing and has a big mouth with rude attitude.
Anyhow, there is a reason why she is good looking but still working there. We still recommend for the shopping there, just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday i went to Huang Sheng supermarket , this was not my first time shopping at this supermarket. Today, may 2, 2021 at about 4- 4.30 pm. I was there shopping. After I paid at the cashier, I noticed that something was wrong . I went back and asked about the price of specific products, because I was charged $7 for spices. When I asked the manager to cancel, he said that that was the price . but I said that I don't want it and asked to return it. He was ok, and told the cashier to give me my money back. She said āI need the receiptā twice to me even though she had the receipt- she kept saying it. She spoke rudely and was yelling. I did not understand her because her English wasn't clear. She then gave me my money with anger, while other customers who witnessed it were calling her so rude. This is not the first time their staff has been very rude to me or other customers in front of me, even though they do not speak English fluently and we try to understand them and be polite. The company needs to fix this and to remind staff that we are in Canada and it is our expectation as customers to get good service . 2 months ago, my friend bought seafood there and the same thing happened to him. They were yelling and asked him to pay first before they cut the fish in another language. When my friend was confused and did not understand their language, they keep yelling and asked him to pay. The company need to speak to their staff to be polite and learn how to speak to people as a...
