TD is the worst bank I've ever had the experience of dealing with. I've been a customer for 14 years and I was never treated as such. There were no relationships built despite trying to visit the same bank frequently. I was just someone that got pushed around because I'm in my twenties.
Even in the main branch of Toronto, when I threatened to switch banks, the manager unflinchingly told me to, "Go ahead." -Hitesh Anand.
Top notch customer service.
As a business owner that takes on multiple single-job contracts from different clients, I receive my income in varying amounts from several sources. When I opened up a business account, I expected there to be a difference in the way holds were placed on deposits from personal accounts. Not here! The ONLY WAY for funds to not be held for 5 business days is to either get a wire transfer, or have it be a regular payment - as if it were a bi-weekly paycheque.
Ignoring the first option because it's an inconvenience for clients, for the former - what free agent receives regular income from a source? That would be working for someone, not owning your own business. I have recieved multiple payments in the same amount from the same client a few times, but in no case was my money cleared right away because it wasn't "regular enough."
It gets worse. After months of constantly being inconvenienced by this, I asked my client to write me a bank draft. I took it to my regular bank, and they held it because they said it might be fake. I asked if there was anything they could do and after an hour of hearing nothing, he said he'd fax the branch that issued the draft. When I came in the next day to check on the progress, the manager was not in, and didn't return my calls for 2 days. I kept calling every day until he finally let it clear ONE DAY EARLY.
I should have switched banks at this point, but I figured I'd try to get the next portion of that payment as another bank draft - and maybe if I went to the same manager he would remember the last time and let it go. Was this the case? Of course not. I ask what I can do: call my client, call his bank rep, get a receipt of the draft? I was told if I did all three they might do it. I really needed the money, as did my employee, so I spent $100 in cabs getting all this stuff to get it in before the bank closed. After all of that, I still had to spend an hour arguing over it and it was all for nothing.
Again, treated like a nobody while you take my money.
I've even brought checks written out by Scotiabank themselves, and because they're never the same amount they never clear.
I went to RBC today... and within 10 minutes I had an account, a representative that will personally look after my account and anything I need, and more importantly I deposited a cheque THE SAME DAY I MADE AN ACCOUNT AND IT CLEARED. TD Bank is terrible and I will never recommend anyone do business with you, nor will any of my other businesses and partners ever open an account with you. This post is just the beginning of...
Read moreI just wanted to share my disappointment with a TD branch in downtown Toronto.
Today (Friday October 18, 2024) I was in downtown Toronto and I needed access to a TD ATM machine. The branch at Queen Street west and Bay Street located at 394 Bay Street (Branch #1216) was the closed branch.
I was there at 8:40 AM and tried to access the ATM at the branch. There was a male employee waiting outside to be let in. He told me the branch opens at 9:00 am. I told him I don't need to enter the branch all I needed was access to the ATM. As the male employee was entering the branch, he said the branch opened at 9:00 AM and I cannot even access the ATM until that time. He entered the branch and locked the door. I could see a male and female employee walking around, talking and just standing there. I hung around until approximately 9:05 or 9:10 AM and even through there was a male and female in the branch, it still was not open and I still could not access the ATM. I left the branch and went to my appointment just around the corner and returned to the branch after my appointment and finally was able to access the ATM at this branch - which is all I needed.
This was frustrating for a couple reasons. One reason it was frustrating is the TD branch close to my home in Etobicoke and out by work in Markham the ATM machines are accessible 24/7, yet this branch I can't access the ATM unless the branch is open. The other reason this is frustrating is the male employee says the branch opens at 9:00 AM. I hung around until after roughly 9:05 or 9:10 AM and the branch was still not open, I had to return after my appointment just to access the ATM.
I find it hard to believe that branches in Etobicoke and Markham I can access ATM 24/7 yet this branch in downtown Toronto I am not able to access ATM machines until after 9 AM! I wasted over 20 minutes of my time waiting until after 9 AM and the branch couldn't even open on time, even though a male and female staff member were walking around inside - I couldn't even access an ATM until after 9 AM, which is all I...
Read moreUnbelievably Rude Service from "Donna" Iâve been banking with TD for nearly a decade, but Iâve never encountered such unprofessionalism until todayâthanks to an employee named Donna. Her hostility and lack of basic manners made a simple coin deposit feel like an interrogation.
I visited this branch to deposit some rolled coins, using wrappers provided by another TD location. That branch had run out of loonie wrappers but told me I could still bring them in since it wasnât a large amount.
The moment I approached Donna, she was already filled with attitude. She refused to accept my loonies because they werenât in a wrapper, then began scolding me like a childâpointing fingers and speaking condescendingly. She also incorrectly counted my wrapped toonies and muttered that she had to recount everything because she was âsuspiciousâ I was trying to scam the bank. When I recounted and proved her mistake, she didnât even apologize.
When I asked for her name and business card, she refused and dismissively told me to take it up with the branch manager.
Thankfully, the branch manager stepped in, reviewed my account, and handled everything professionallyâaccepting the loonies without issue.
I informed the manager about Donnaâs behavior, but whether anything will be done about it is unclear. Hopefully, this review serves as a warning about the kind of treatment customers might face at...
